The college is located in Anqing, a thousand-year-old city that is a national historical and cultural city and the hometown of Huangmei Opera. Its predecessor, Anhui Huangmei Opera School, was founded in 1958 and upgraded to Anhui Huangmei Opera Vocational College of Art in April 2011. It is the only full-time public higher art college in the country named after a type of opera approved by the Anhui Provincial People's Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. The college adheres to the eight-character school motto of "determination, perseverance, truth-seeking, and diligence". The guiding ideology of running the school is: the college adheres to and strengthens the party's overall leadership, holds high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and is guided by Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the important thought of "Three Represents", the Scientific Outlook on Development, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It deeply understands the decisive significance of the "two establishments", enhances the "four consciousnesses", strengthens the "four self-confidences", and achieves the "two safeguards". It fully implements the party's basic theory, basic line, and basic strategy, and fully implements the party's education policy. It insists on education serving the people, serving the Chinese Communist Party's governance of the country, and consolidating and developing the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. It serves reform, opening up, and socialist modernization. It adheres to educating people for the party and cultivating talents for the country, and cultivating socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics, and labor. "Highlighting characteristics, giving full play to advantages, adapting to the market, and serving needs", adhere to comprehensive reform as the driving force, moral education as the foundation, cultural inheritance and innovation as the responsibility, system construction as the guarantee, strengthening management as the basis, team building as the starting point, connotation development as the focus, teaching quality as the life, campus safety as the responsibility, open school as the way, service development as the purpose, and employment promotion as the orientation, and build the college into a "high-level vocational college of opera with application-oriented, skill-oriented, and artistic level." The college has five departments: performance, music, fine arts, dance, and variety shows. It has more than ten majors, including opera performance, acrobatic performance, music performance, art design, dance performance, drama and film performance, character image design, high-speed railway train service, and modern pop music. The college currently has more than 140 professional and dedicated full-time teachers of various types, including some famous artists and first-class actors who are responsible for front-line teaching. In addition, Han Zaifen, Huang Xinde, Wang Changan, Hou Lu and other Huangmei Opera masters have been hired as honorary deans or part-time teachers. The college is an "intangible cultural heritage transmission base", "Peking Opera Meipai talent inheritance base", "China Art Vocational Education Society Council Unit", "South Anhui International Cultural Tourism Demonstration Zone Key Support Unit", "Dahuangshan World-Class Leisure Vacation Health Tourism Destination Key Support Unit", "Yangtze River Delta Opera Industry-Education Alliance Vice Chairman Unit", "Anhui Province's 'Double High Plan' Professional Group Construction Unit", "Chinese Opera Academy Student Source Base and Teaching Practice Base", "Huangmei Opera Campus Teacher Training Base". Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the school has trained a large number of artistic talents from all over the country. According to incomplete statistics, 80% of the Huangmei Opera performing talents in the country graduated from our school, and many of them have become the backbone of various literary and artistic fronts. Such as Tian Hairong, Xie Yuxin, Lan Xi, Wang Shuilin, Wang Ying, Pan Qicai, Ding Tong, Liu Guanghui, Zhou Li, Guo Xiaozhen, Zhou Yuanyuan, Wang Qin, Sun Juan, Cheng Cheng, Xu Li, Chen Jinggeng, Chen Rutian, Zhu Feiyue, Cheng Jun, Zhu Chunlin, Xu Meihua, Zhang Gongli, Wu Meilian, Zhang Quan, Zhao Li, Xia Yuanyuan, etc. In recent years, in various Huangmei Opera Young Actor Grand Prix held at the national, provincial and municipal levels, graduates of our college have accounted for more than 70% of the winners; new students in school compete for gold and silver in the National Opera Little Plum Blossom Award every year, and have emerged as stars. It is known as the "fertile soil of Huangmei and the cradle of stars". The college implements a training model of employment and further study, vigorously carries out employment guidance and talent promotion activities, and establishes and expands employment internship bases through multiple channels. On the basis of running the brand major of Huangmei Opera performance well, Sizhou Opera, Huaibei Flower Drum Opera, and Lu Opera are opened, and multiple opera classes are explored to expand employment space. Joint schooling and order training are carried out with Yunnan Yang Liping Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Warrior Acrobatic Troupe, Nanjing "Dance Source" Song and Dance Troupe, Kunshan "Four Seasons Zhouzhuang" Cultural Performance Co., Ltd., Yurun Group, Beijing General Aviation Holding Co., Ltd., Beijing Zhongtian Aerospace Envoy Education Investment Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Hengdian Film and Television City Co., Ltd., Anhui Performing Arts Group, Anhui Acrobatic Troupe, Hubei Huangmei County Huangmei Opera Troupe, etc., to achieve a "win-win" situation between schools and enterprises. We have carried out exchanges and cooperation with well-known colleges and educational bases such as the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Opera, St. Clair College in Canada, and Beijing Shangkun Education Group. We have actively carried out employment guidance and talent promotion activities to improve the effectiveness of recruitment and employment services. We have provided scholarships to students with excellent academic performance and financial difficulties. According to statistics, the average annual one-time employment rate of our graduates has reached 98%.
