Yunnan Tin Vocational and Technical College was approved by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education in 2007. It is a full-time national public higher vocational college with distinctive school-running characteristics, based on the Yunnan Tin Technical School established in Gejiu in April 1953 with the approval of the Southwest Nonferrous Metals Industry Administration. It has a 70-year history of vocational education. The college covers an area of 635 mu, with 67,500 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings, 37,300 square meters of student dormitories, 27,000 square meters of sports venues, 51,000 square meters of experimental training venues, and a library with 350,000 books.
