Shihezi Engineering Vocational and Technical College is located in Shihezi City, the first military reclamation city of the Republic of China, which is known as the "Pearl of the Gobi" at the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang. It was founded in 1976. The predecessor of the college was the Shihezi Regional Communist Labor University. It has successively gone through the Shihezi Regional Agricultural Mechanization School, Xinjiang Agricultural Reclamation Secondary Vocational School, and Xinjiang Shihezi Engineering and Technology School. In May 2018, with the approval of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the filing of the Ministry of Education, Shihezi Engineering Vocational and Technical College was established. Since then, it has become a full-time higher vocational college integrating higher vocational education, secondary vocational education, five-year consistent academic education and vocational skills training. It is directly under the management of the Education Bureau of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The campus covers an area of 555 acres, the school building area is 117,000 square meters, the green coverage rate is 57%, and the total value of teaching, scientific research and experimental training equipment is 180 million. The college has complete infrastructure, excellent school conditions, and a sound talent training system. There are more than 360 faculty and staff, 24% of the teaching staff have senior titles, and 46.7% of the "dual-qualified" teachers. One Corps-level "double-qualified" famous teacher studio and one Corps-level "famous class teacher" studio have been built. The college adheres to the school-running philosophy of "moral and technical training, integration of production and education", focuses on the theme of high-quality development, firmly establishes and implements new development concepts, and focuses on the goal of building a high-level vocational college in the Corps. It continuously strengthens the professional skills training of students, creates a professional talent training system that connects secondary and higher vocational education, has distinctive professional characteristics, and has a high-level professional group of big data technology and application (Corps Higher Vocational School). There are 29 higher vocational majors and 9 five-year majors. The college has more than 5,000 students. In 2022, 287 graduates applied for the "junior college to undergraduate" program, and 51 students were admitted to undergraduate colleges, with an enrollment rate of 18%. The college is a national civilized unit, a national advanced unit of vocational education, an advanced collective in the national education system, a national advanced unit of school art education, a national-level Shihezi Economic and Technological Development Zone skilled talent order training base, an Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone skilled talent order training base, a national high-skilled talent training base, a national computer examination site, the 40th National Vocational Skill Appraisal Institute of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, a Mandarin Proficiency Test Site, and a Vocational Skill Appraisal Workstation for Agricultural Product and Food Inspectors.
