Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College ("BNU-HKBU" in Chinese, "UIC" in English) is the first university jointly established by the higher education community of mainland China and Hong Kong, and the first new liberal arts university in mainland China. It is located in Zhuhai, a livable city in China, in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With special approval from the Ministry of Education of China, and strong support from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, Zhuhai Municipal Government and all sectors, BNU-HKBU was established in 2005 and adopts the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the Board of Directors. Adhering to the philosophy of liberal arts education, BNU-HKBU innovatively promotes holistic education, four-dimensional education and internationalized school-running models, and is committed to cultivating new-age students who have both professional knowledge and comprehensive qualities, and who have a sense of home and country and an international perspective. Internationalized higher education BNU-HKBU implements English teaching, and its academic standards are in line with international standards. The university has colleges of business administration, culture and creativity, humanities and social sciences, and science and technology, as well as a college of general education and a graduate school. It has 13 departments, recruits students in 31 undergraduate majors (directions), and offers research-based and teaching-based graduate majors, with more than 9,000 students on campus. Undergraduate graduates are awarded a diploma from Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University and a bachelor's degree from Hong Kong Baptist University, while master's and doctoral students are awarded degrees from Hong Kong Baptist University.
