The college was founded in 1980. In 2013, it was approved by the autonomous region and was established by merging the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Advanced Technical School, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Industry and Trade School, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Vocational Technician Training College. It is a comprehensive higher vocational college with engineering as the main discipline. In the 40 years since its establishment, it has trained more than 60,000 professional and skilled personnel of various types, and more than 54,000 graduates have stayed in Xinjiang for employment, with an employment rate of 91.6%. The college currently has more than 11,000 registered students and 459 faculty and staff, including 72 associate professors and above and 83 lecturers. The college has 5 national-level "Master Studios" and 3 Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps-level "Master Studios". Two people have won the titles of "Outstanding Teachers of China's Technical Colleges" and "China's First Vocational College Teaching Master", and two people have enjoyed the special allowance for high-skilled talents from the State Council, and one expert with outstanding contributions from the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. The original site of the college is located in Urumqi, covering an area of 172 acres and a total construction area of 89,000 square meters. In May 2019, the Party Committee of the Corps decided to relocate the college to Tiemenguan City, the Second Division of the Corps. According to the scale of 10,000 students, it covers an area of 1,134 acres and a total construction area of 302,000 square meters, of which the first phase of the project has a construction area of 98,000 square meters and the second phase of the project has a construction area of 204,000 square meters. The total investment is estimated at 1.35 billion yuan. The Second Division provides 420 million yuan for the construction of supporting facilities and surrounding environment. At present, with the strong support of all relevant units of the Corps, the overall construction of the college has achieved the overall relocation of the college and ensured the normal opening of the school in the fall. The college has set up the School of Architecture and Water Conservancy Engineering, the School of Urban Construction and Management, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Energy and Power, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Transportation, the School of Education and Art, the School of Modern Service, the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Courses, the School of Continuing Education, and the Eighth National Vocational Appraisal Institute of the Corps. 34 higher vocational majors such as automobile inspection and maintenance technology, engineering cost, digital media technology, cooking technology and nutrition, and electrical automation technology are opened. Over the years, the college has actively explored and practiced new models of school-enterprise cooperation, and established internship and employment "dual bases" with more than 200 large and medium-sized enterprises, ensuring that 100% of graduates have on-the-job internships and recommended employment. The college participated in various vocational skills competitions at all levels and won a total of 524 awards, including 278 national-level skills competitions. Compared with similar vocational colleges in the autonomous region, the college ranks among the top in both quality and quantity of awards.
