Huaihua Normal College is a general college under the jurisdiction of the Huaihua Municipal People's Government and the Provincial Department of Education. The school was established on December 28, 2018 with the approval of the Hunan Provincial People's Government and was registered by the Ministry of Education on May 22, 2019. The foundation of the school is the Hunan Zhijiang National Normal School, which was founded in 1936. There are 333 faculty members, including 7 professors, 86 associate professors, and 142 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees. There are 8,455 students, including 5,618 college students. The school has a beautiful campus environment, with a planned area of 605 acres and a planned building area of 240,000 square meters. It currently covers an area of 433 acres and a building area of 158,000 square meters. There are 417,000 paper books and more than 26 million yuan in teaching facilities and equipment. The school currently offers 12 state-controlled normal education majors, including preschool education, primary education, primary Chinese education, primary mathematics education, primary English education, primary science education, modern educational technology, art education, physical education, music education, early education, and dance education, as well as three non-state-controlled majors, including music performance, computer application technology, and infant care services and management. It also offers a five-year junior college program for the public-funded training of preschool education and primary education majors, and undertakes the continuing education of primary and kindergarten teachers in Huaihua City. Over the past century, the school has adhered to the school motto of "diligence, simplicity, dedication, and truth-seeking", and has trained and supplied batches of educators and various specialized talents for the society. It has become the main base for the training of primary and kindergarten teachers in Huaihua City and an important source of basic education teachers in surrounding provinces and cities, making important contributions to the national education cause, local economy, and social development. In recent years, due to its outstanding achievements in running schools, before the school was upgraded, it was successively recognized as a five-year college-level rural primary school teacher training base in Hunan Province, a training base for key primary and secondary school teachers in Hunan Province, a national language and writing standardization demonstration school, a Hunan demonstration secondary vocational school, and a national advanced unit of vocational education.
