The International Medical College of Chongqing Medical University was established in 2020. It is a secondary college established to strengthen the "Double First-Class" construction of our school, implement the concept of open school-running, and promote international education and exchanges, relying on the school's professional advantages and characteristics. The college adheres to the development concept of "inheriting and carrying forward, open cooperation, seeking change and innovation, and striving for progress", and mainly serves the education and teaching work of Sino-foreign cooperative education in clinical medicine jointly organized by our school and the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. The college aims to effectively learn from and utilize high-quality educational concepts and successful experiences at home and abroad, systematically introduce advanced curriculum systems and teaching management models of world-renowned medical schools, allocate high-quality educational resources throughout the school, and carry out various forms of exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities to cultivate medical elites with international thinking and vision. Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leicester jointly established a joint management committee and a joint executive committee to jointly manage Sino-foreign cooperative education. Professor Huang Ailong, the president of the school, will be the chairman of the joint management committee, and Nishan Canagarajah, the president of the University of Leicester, will be the vice chairman; Professor Deng Shixiong, the deputy secretary of the school party committee and the vice president, will be the first dean of the college's international medical school and the chairman of the joint executive committee, and Thompson Robinson, the vice president of the University of Leicester, will be the vice chairman. The senior leaders of the two schools have devoted all their efforts to make top-level design and escort the management and operation of the college. In the undergraduate education program of clinical medicine, the school fully implements the development idea of "building a first-class university, creating first-class teachers, and cultivating first-class talents". The school publicly selects 19 imported course teaching teams. As of 2022, a total of 87 core teachers (group leaders, deputy group leaders, and teaching secretaries) have been selected. The teachers of the course group come from 8 colleges, including the School of Basic Medicine, the School of Public Health, the School of Pharmacy, the Institute of Life Sciences, the First Clinical School, and the Second Clinical School. Course groups were established separately to form teaching teams consisting of group leaders, deputy group leaders, and secretaries, and teacher training meetings were held to issue appointment letters to teachers. The core teaching team of the Sino-foreign cooperatively-run courses currently has 68 teachers with senior professional titles, accounting for 78%; among them, 36 are professors/chief physicians and 32 are associate professors/associate physicians. There are 76 teachers with doctoral degrees, accounting for 87%. There are 58 graduate supervisors, accounting for 67%; among them, 22 are doctoral supervisors and 36 are master supervisors. There are 65 teachers with overseas study experience, accounting for 75%. The young, international and high-quality teaching team provides a strong teacher guarantee for Sino-foreign cooperatively-run teaching. The college currently has two classes with a total of 448 students, covering 15 provinces across the country. College students are registered as students of Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leytes in the UK, and enjoy the rights and interests of students of both schools. Since its establishment, the college has comprehensively upgraded and optimized various teaching resources to meet the needs of small-class, discussion-based, and immersive teaching; and equipped each student with a tablet computer to achieve paperless, instant, and open learning; it has opened advanced foreign medical education databases—Acland Anatomy, Oxford Medicine Online, and LWW Health Library online medical education learning platforms to ensure that students can use the teaching resources currently used by clinical medical students at Lai University Medical School.
