Beijing Sport University was founded in 1953. It was formerly known as the Central Institute of Physical Education. It was renamed Beijing Institute of Physical Education in 1956 and Beijing Sport University in 1993. It is a national key university, a key university of the national "211 Project", and one of the first batch of national "Double First-Class" universities. It has a glorious history of running schools, profound cultural heritage and solid foundation for running schools. It enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad and is affiliated to the State General Administration of Sports. The school is located on Xinxi Road, Haidian District, covering an area of 755,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 410,000 square meters, and has nearly 100 indoor and outdoor training venues. The school currently has four departments: the Department of Sports and Health, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Olympic Sports, and the Department of Sports Engineering. The Department of Sports and Health has seven colleges, including the School of Education (Sports Teachers College) and the School of Psychology; the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences has eight colleges, including the School of Marxism and the School of Management; the Department of Olympic Sports has nine colleges (schools), including the China Football Sports Academy (China Football Coaches College) and the China Basketball Sports Academy; the Department of Sports Engineering has the School of Sports Engineering. The Party School of the General Administration of Sport of the Communist Party of China, the Cadre Training Center of the General Administration of Sport of the Communist Party of China, and the Coaches College of the General Administration of Sport of the Communist Party of China are located in the school. The school is based on undergraduate education and focuses on postgraduate education. It is one of the first batch of doctoral degree awarding units in my country's sports colleges. There are 39 undergraduate majors, including sports education and sports training, including 14 national first-class undergraduate major construction points and 8 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points. The discipline layout involves nine disciplines, including education, law, economics, literature, science, engineering, medicine, management, and art. The first-level discipline of sports and all the second-level disciplines under its jurisdiction are national key disciplines. It has 1 Beijing key second-level discipline, 1 interdisciplinary Beijing key discipline and 1 Beijing university high-tech discipline. The overall level of sports disciplines ranked first in the first three rounds of national discipline evaluations and ranked "A+" in the fourth round of national discipline evaluations. The school has a doctoral degree authorization point in the first-level discipline of sports and 7 first-level master's degree authorization points in sports, Marxist theory, education, psychology, clinical medicine, public administration, and journalism; it has 6 master's professional degree authorization points in sports, journalism and communication, international Chinese education, business administration, electronic information, and applied psychology, as well as the first postdoctoral research mobile station in sports in the country. The school currently has 8 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, including the Ministry of Education's Key Laboratory of Sports and Physical Health and the State Sports General Administration's Key Laboratory of Physical Training and Physical Function Recovery, 1 National Sports Science Popularization Base, 1 Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center, 1 Beijing Higher Education Engineering Research Center, 1 Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences Base, 2 National Sports General Administration Scientific Research Bases, 1 Sports Science Society Training Base, 1 National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and 2 Beijing Higher Education Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers. There are 4 China Think Tank Index (CTTI) source think tanks, including the China Sports Strategy Research Institute, and 1 National Sports General Administration Sports High-end Think Tank. The library has a collection of more than 1.35 million books. The school currently has more than 13,000 students at all levels and types, including more than 9,800 undergraduates and more than 3,500 graduate students. In the past five years, the first-time employment rate of graduates has exceeded the average employment rate of colleges and universities in Beijing. The school has always firmly established the central position of talent training, adhered to the world vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics, and high-end positioning, adhered to the "three-in-one" school-running model and school-running characteristics of education, training, and scientific research, and adhered to the "four-in-one" talent training methods of high-end, integrated, internationalized, and coordinated, and strengthened the deep integration of sports with education, science and technology, and culture, and cultivated and delivered high-quality new sports talents for the construction of a strong sports country, a strong education country, and a healthy China. "Journal of Beijing Sport University" was founded in 1966. It is now a core Chinese journal of Peking University, a CSSCI source journal of the Chinese Social Sciences Research Evaluation Center of Nanjing University, a "Chinese Science and Technology Core Journal (Humanities and Social Sciences)" of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a core journal of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and an authoritative journal of Wuhan University RCCSE. Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise (SSEJ) was founded in 2019. It is an English academic journal in the field of sports science, supervised by the General Administration of Sport of China and hosted by Beijing Sport University. Since its establishment, the university has established inter-school relations with 159 foreign universities in 52 countries and regions around the world, and has trained more than 15,000 international students from 106 countries. Among them, Dr. Oleg Matytsin was elected President of the International University Sports Federation in 2015. The school has awarded a doctorate to Zlatko Matesa, former Prime Minister of Croatia and President of the Croatian Olympic Committee; honorary doctorates to seven internationally renowned figures, including Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee; the title of "Honorary Professor" to eight people, including Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, Gian Franco Kasper, President of the International Ski Federation, and Kate Caithness, President of the World Curling Federation; and awarded the title of "Visiting Professor" to Gilbert Marius Felli, senior adviser to the International Olympic Committee, and appointed him as "Honorary Minister" of the Department of Olympic Sports. The school is approved by the Ministry of Education to recruit "Chinese Government Scholarship International Students", a national high-level university construction public graduate student program funding school and the European Commission of Education "Erasmus +" teacher-student exchange program funding school, sports human science and competitive sports training discipline innovation and intelligence introduction base, sports science and health discipline innovation and intelligence introduction base were approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
