UWE College of Hainan Medical University is a Sino-foreign cooperatively-run school jointly established by Hainan Medical College and the University of the West of England, UK, with the strong support of the Hainan Provincial Government. It was officially approved by the Ministry of Education in July 2022 (Ministry of Education License No.: MOE46UKA02DNR20222305N), and is affiliated to Hainan Medical College. Based in China and facing the world, relying on the advanced educational concepts and high-quality educational resources of the University of the West of England, UWE College of Hainan Medical University is committed to providing excellent medicine, teaching, scientific research and social services, becoming a "test field" for the reform of medical higher education in Hainan Free Trade Port, and cultivating students to become world citizens with international vision, cross-cultural communication skills and innovation capabilities. (I) School Goals Relying on the school foundation and comprehensive advantages of Hainan Medical College, we will introduce high-quality educational resources from the University of the West of England to cultivate international talents with deep patriotism, broad international vision and deep professional foundation; adopt advanced school-running concepts and international high-quality education and teaching models to create a brand of higher medical international education, and cultivate high-level top talents who contribute to promoting the development of Hainan Free Trade Port and solving the health problems and challenges faced by China, the UK and even the world. (II) Development Concept Based on the Hainan Free Trade Port area, serving the needs of international medical talents, giving full play to the advantages and characteristics of school-running, cultivating outstanding professional leaders through multi-level education, creating a highland for international talent training in the field of health, and further enhancing the international reputation and influence of both sides. (III) Teaching and training model: Chinese and British teachers jointly teach, adopting international advanced higher education models and management standards. Undergraduate education: 4 years. 50% of the core professional courses are undertaken by the University of the West of England, which formulates corresponding teaching plans and assessment plans and organizes their implementation. All undergraduate teaching is completed in China. Students who have completed all courses and passed the exams and met the degree awarding conditions of their respective universities will receive corresponding diplomas from both China and the UK. Postgraduate education: 1.5 years. Students complete all courses of this project in China. After completing all courses and passing the exams, they will receive the corresponding British diploma (the same as their own students). (IV) The teaching staff will introduce advanced courses in the field of health care in Europe and the United States, represented by the United Kingdom, and hold seminars and training regularly to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in education, teaching, scientific research and other aspects between the teaching staff of the two schools, and thereby generate a driving and radiating effect to improve the existing teaching staff construction level and education and teaching quality of Hainan Medical College. All teachers of relevant professional courses at Hainan Medical College will participate in the higher education teaching training courses of the University of the West of England before taking office. It will also recruit teachers globally according to the standards of the University of the West of England, and implement overseas visiting studies and scientific research cooperation plans in all aspects. Newly hired non-University of the West of England teachers will go to the headquarters of the University of the West of England to receive relevant teaching training before taking up their classes. Master's certificates: (1) Chinese: None (2) British: ①Master of Science in International Nursing Practice ②Master of Science in Rehabilitation ③Master of Science in Public Health (Students are not required to study abroad for a period of time to obtain foreign degree certificates)
