1. College Overview Baoshan Vocational College covers an area of 482 acres and has a construction area of 225,000 square meters. It was approved by the provincial government in March 2022 and was registered as a higher education institution by the Ministry of Education in January 2023. The college will enroll students for the first time in September 2023. It plans to open 6 majors in cooking technology and nutrition, intelligent food processing technology, intelligent electromechanical technology, applied chemical technology, cross-border e-commerce, and elderly care and management, and plans to enroll 600 new students. 2. School Goals Baoshan Vocational College is closely united around the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, and has effectively unified its thoughts and actions with the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party. The college will fully implement the party's education policy, aim to run education that satisfies the people, implement moral education as its fundamental task, and take the cultivation of professional and technical talents urgently needed for the high-quality leapfrog development of Baoshan's economy and society as its mission. With the improvement of its own construction as the center, it will focus on the development plan of "reaching standards in 3 years, becoming large-scale in 5 years, and creating double highs in 8 years", and strive to build the college into a regional international higher vocational college with characteristics in western Yunnan, domestic influence, and radiation to South Asia and Southeast Asia. First, play a leading role in creating a "new highland of vocational education in western Yunnan". Focusing on the goal of the municipal party committee and municipal government to create a "new highland of vocational education in western Yunnan", we will promote the group and alliance development of Baoshan vocational education, give full play to the college's leading role in the city's secondary vocational education and its supporting role in the cultivation of applied talents in undergraduate colleges, and accelerate the promotion of Baoshan vocational education in western Yunnan to take the lead in realizing a new model of high-quality development of "vertical connection between middle, high and undergraduate". Second, play the role of a talent pool in serving the capacity building of local economic and social development. With the goal of comprehensively improving the ability and effectiveness of vocational education to serve Baoshan and the economic and social development of western Yunnan, focusing on the high-end, intelligent, digital and green development requirements of the country's high-end manufacturing, traditional advantageous industries, strategic emerging industries, modern agriculture and modern services, and taking the responsibility of serving Baoshan's advanced manufacturing, cultural tourism and health care, plateau-featured modern agriculture, modern services and other characteristic and advantageous industries, we will build five major professional groups of green food, modern industry, trade and tourism, ethnic catering, and health care services, and strive to set up more than 10 majors within 3 years, and build more than 3 characteristic boutique majors. Starting from 2024, we will gradually increase the number of majors and expand enrollment, striving to reach 2,500 students in 2025 and 5,000 in 2027. Third, we will play a leading role in promoting Baoshan's opening up to the outside world.
