Guilin University of Electronic Technology is located in Guilin, a world-famous scenic tourist city and a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a university jointly built by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and a university selected in the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China". The school is one of the four universities of electronic science and technology in China. It was founded in 1960. In 1980, it was approved by the State Council to establish Guilin Institute of Electronic Industry. In 2006, it was renamed Guilin University of Electronic Technology. The school was successively affiliated to the Fourth Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ministry of Electronics Industry, the Ministry of Machinery and Electronics Industry, the China Electronics Industry Corporation, and the Ministry of Information Industry. In 2000, the management system was changed to co-construction by the central and local governments, with local management as the main focus. In 1990, Comrade Jiang Zemin, then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, visited the school in person and wrote an inscription for the school, "To cultivate more qualified talents for the development of the electronics industry". The school has won the honorary title of "National Civilized Campus" for two consecutive years. The school currently has Jinjiling Campus, Liuhe Road Campus, Huajiang Campus, and Beihai Campus, which are located in Guilin National High-tech Development Zone, Yaoshan Scenic Area, Guilin City, and Yinhai District, Beihai City, respectively. The total campus area is more than 4,100 acres. The school has established the Guidian Nanning Research Institute in Nanning City. The school library has a construction area of more than 45,000 square meters. The library currently has more than 2.38 million paper books, more than 2 million electronic books, 78 databases, and more than 170,000 Chinese and foreign periodicals (including paper and electronic). It has an advanced network information platform and a smart campus platform. The school offers 73 undergraduate majors, including 23 national first-class professional construction sites, 19 engineering education certification majors (including 1 industry certification by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development), 1 national comprehensive reform pilot major, and 5 national characteristic majors; there are 15 national first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national course ideological and political demonstration course, 7 national quality courses, national bilingual teaching demonstration courses, national quality resource sharing courses, and national quality online open courses. The school has obtained 9 national planning textbooks for the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and "Twelfth Five-Year Plan". The school has won 6 national teaching achievement awards for higher education. The school currently has 5 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees; 4 postdoctoral research mobile stations; 21 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees; 12 master's professional degree authorization categories; it is a university for master's degree recommendation. Four disciplines of engineering, materials science, computer science, and chemistry are among the top 1% in the world of ESI. Faculty The school currently has more than 3,300 faculty and staff. The talent training school currently has more than 41,000 full-time students. The school is a university in the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, a university implementing the National College Students' Innovative Experimental Program, a demonstration point school for the Ministry of Education's College English Teaching Reform, and a training unit for preparatory students for children of frontier soldiers of the whole army. It was selected as the first batch of Guangxi universities' "Three-dimensional Education" comprehensive reform demonstration schools. The school currently has 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone, 5 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national engineering practice teaching centers, 1 national college students' off-campus practice education base; 2 national college students' "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Teams"; 1 professional studio support unit of the National School Youth League New Media Operation Center; 1 Ministry of Education College Students' Network Culture Studio. The school is one of the first national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and has the first national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship practice bases. The school's college students' innovation practice bases have been named "National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Base" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation. The school was rated as "2012-2014 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program Implementation Advanced Unit". Students have won many awards in the China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the National College Students Electronic Design Competition, the "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, the National College Students Mechanical Innovation Design Competition, the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition and other competitions. They have won the gold medal of the China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the highest awards of the National College Students Electronic Design Competition "Sony Cup" and "TI Cup". The school ranks 44th in the country in the seven rounds of the overall list of college students in ordinary colleges and universities across the country. The school has undertaken a number of high-level national scientific research projects such as major national science and technology projects, national key R&D plans, major scientific research instrument development projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation Joint Fund, general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and special commissioned projects of the National Social Science Foundation. Since the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", 580 national scientific research projects such as national key R&D plan projects, national major special projects, "973" projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation have been added, and a total of 72 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards and science and technology awards established by social forces of the same level have been obtained. The university currently has 1 national engineering research center, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 1 engineering research center of the Ministry of Education, 3 major scientific and technological innovation bases in Guangxi, 10 key laboratories in Guangxi, 1 Guangxi Applied Mathematics Center, 9 Guangxi Engineering (Technology) Research Centers, 1 international joint innovation platform, 5 Guangxi Collaborative Innovation Centers, 2 Guangxi Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Pilot Research Bases, 10 key laboratories of Guangxi universities, and 2 Guangxi Humanities and Social Sciences Research Bases. The university science and technology park of the school was approved as a national university science and technology park, and the university science and technology park maker space of the school was approved as a "national maker space". The school was selected as the first batch of higher education scientific and technological achievement transformation and technology transfer bases of the Ministry of Education, and was approved as a national intellectual property pilot university and a national intellectual property information service center for universities. The school continues to promote the construction of government-industry-university-research platforms such as Huajiang Smart Valley Electronic Information Entrepreneurship Industrial Park and Shenzhen Guidian Electronic Information and Advanced Manufacturing Technology Research Institute. The school vigorously promotes the construction of Guidian Nanning Research Institute to contribute "Guidian Power" to the construction of a magnificent Guangxi in the new era. The International Exchange School has established good cooperative relations with more than 80 universities and academic institutions along the “Belt and Road”, Asia, Europe, America, Oceania and Africa. Every year, the school selects outstanding young teachers and students to visit or study in overseas universities, and recruits international students for a long time. The school is a recipient and training unit of the “Chinese Government Scholarship”, “Silk Road Scholarship” and “Guangxi Government Scholarship for ASEAN Students” of the Ministry of Education, and a quality certification unit for higher education for international students in China.
