Zhengzhou University of Light Industry was founded in 1977. It was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Light Industry and was transferred to the Henan Provincial People's Government in 1998. The school is a university jointly built by the People's Government of Henan Province and the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, a university building a characteristic backbone university in Henan Province, and a pilot university with international characteristics in Henan Province.
