Anhui Jianzhu University is the only multidisciplinary university in Anhui Province with civil engineering as its specialty. It was founded in 1958. The school is a university jointly established by the Anhui Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education, a doctoral degree-granting institution, a university implementing the National "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program", a national demonstration unit of conservation-oriented public institutions, a national advanced unit for college students' social practice, a provincial advanced unit for talent work, a provincial excellent teaching management collective, a provincial advanced unit for employment work, a provincial model unit for employment of ordinary college graduates, a provincial advanced unit for logistics work in colleges and universities, and a civilized unit in Anhui Province. The school has 13 colleges and 64 undergraduate majors, covering seven disciplines: engineering, management, science, art, literature, law, and economics. There are more than 18,600 full-time undergraduates and more than 2,400 graduate students. There are 1,247 full-time teachers, including 1,141 teachers with master's degrees or above (including 598 teachers with doctoral degrees), 44 doctoral supervisors, and 768 master's supervisors. There are 6 members of the National Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee, 1 winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 1 Young Yangtze River Scholar of the Ministry of Education, 1 national teaching master, 5 national excellent teachers, 2 national model teachers, 46 provincial teaching masters, 26 national and provincial teaching teams, 11 provincial science and technology innovation teams, 45 local leading talents such as the New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, Provincial Academic and Technical Leaders, and Wanjiang Scholars Distinguished Professors, and 13 people enjoy special allowances from the State Council and Anhui Provincial Government. The school currently has 1 civil engineering postdoctoral mobile station, 1 first-level doctoral degree authorization point in civil engineering, 12 first-level master's degree authorization points, 14 professional degree authorization categories, 8 provincial key disciplines, 3 Anhui Province peak disciplines, 2 peak cultivation disciplines, and engineering and chemistry disciplines are in the top 1% of the ESI global ranking. It has 1 national engineering laboratory, 13 provincial key laboratories, 33 national and provincial engineering (technology) research centers (institutes), 4 provincial and ministerial international exchange and cooperation bases, and 2 Anhui Provincial University Think Tanks. The library currently has 1.846 million paper books, 232,500 electronic journals, and 10.073 million dissertations. The school closely relies on the discipline advantage of "big civil engineering", actively serves the local economic and social development, condenses the direction of scientific research, and has formed a number of scientific research directions and academic teams with great influence and distinctive characteristics in key areas such as energy conservation and environmental protection, urbanization and Hui-style architecture, urban renewal and rural revitalization, smart cities, urban management, underground engineering, public safety, and advanced building materials. In recent years, it has presided over more than 300 national key R&D plan projects, national science and technology support plans, national major science and technology projects, National Natural Science Foundation and Social Science Foundation projects, and more than 1,470 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects; it has won more than 130 scientific and technological awards at the provincial and ministerial levels, including 4 second prizes for national scientific and technological progress and 1 gold prize for China's invention patents. The school has always adhered to the quality of the school, continuously deepened the reform of education and teaching, established and improved the quality monitoring system, vigorously implemented quality engineering and achieved outstanding results. In recent years, the university has won 44 national quality engineering projects, 1 second prize of the first national textbook construction award, and more than 1,000 provincial quality engineering projects, including 1 second prize of national teaching achievement, 109 provincial teaching achievement awards, and 6 provincial industrial colleges. There are 19 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 24 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 7 national first-class courses, 11 majors that have passed the national engineering education professional certification (assessment), 1 national quality course, 44 provincial quality courses, 1 national bilingual teaching demonstration course, 1 national planning textbook, 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone, 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 5 national new engineering projects, 2 national virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, and the "Architectural Electrical and Intelligent Professional Virtual Teaching and Research Office" was selected as the first batch of national professional construction virtual teaching and research offices. The school recruits students from 26 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country. The quality of students continues to improve, and graduates are favored by employers. The admission rate for postgraduate entrance examinations has exceeded 25% for many consecutive years. From 2021 to 2023, it has been recognized as an outstanding unit for employment of ordinary college graduates in Anhui Province for three consecutive years. Students have repeatedly achieved outstanding results in various academic competitions and sports competitions for college students across the country and the province, and have won more than 3,800 national, provincial and ministerial commendations and awards. The school's external exchanges are constantly expanding, and it has established inter-school cooperation relations with more than 20 universities in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, Belarus, South Korea and Taiwan.
