Beihua University is the largest comprehensive university in Jilin Province. It is a university jointly established by the Jilin Provincial People's Government and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. Approved by the Ministry of Education of China in September 1999, it was formed by the merger of the former Jilin Normal College, Jilin Medical College, Jilin Forestry College, and Jilin Electrification College. The predecessors of the four schools were Jilin Junior Normal School founded in 1906, Jilin Private Midwifery School founded in 1928, Jilin Forestry School founded in 1952, and Jilin Provincial Vocational School founded in 1920. The school is located in Jilin City, Jilin Province, the charming capital of rime and China's charming city. The school currently has three campuses in the east, south, and north, and an affiliated hospital. It covers an area of 2.684 million square meters (including teaching and experimental bases) and a building area of 528,200 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 620 million yuan, and the library has 4.024 million books. There are 28 colleges and 1 engineering training center. There are 28,283 full-time students of all kinds, including 2,979 postgraduates, 24,725 undergraduates, 149 junior college students, and 430 international students. The school currently has 2,030 faculty and staff, including 694 with senior professional titles; 18 doctoral supervisors, 491 master's supervisors; 4 academicians of the two academies, 1 academician of the American International Academy of Wood Science, 49 national talent titles such as "National Special Support Plan" Hundred Thousand Talents Project Leading Talents, New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project National Candidates (first level), State Council Government Special Allowances, etc., and more than 100 provincial talent titles such as provincial (senior) senior experts, provincial top-notch innovative talents, and provincial young and middle-aged professional and technical talents with outstanding contributions. One "National Huang Danian-style Teacher Team in Colleges and Universities", two "Jilin Province Huang Danian-style Teacher Teams", and 13 provincial teaching teams were awarded. The school currently has 89 undergraduate majors, 18 first-level master's degree authorization points, 18 master's professional degree categories, covering 11 disciplines; it has 1 key discipline of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, 11 Jilin Province characteristic high-level disciplines; it has 11 national first-class professional construction points, 6 national characteristic majors, 13 provincial first-class professional construction points, and 11 provincial characteristic high-level majors. It has 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national off-campus practice bases for college students, and 32 provincial teaching platforms. In the long-term practice of running schools, the school has formed a talent training system of "one main diversity, innovative practice". The school has established a practical teaching base support system with more than 20 national and provincial teaching platforms as the main body, such as the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the National College Students' Off-campus Practice Education Base. It has carried out fruitful college students' innovation and entrepreneurship practice education activities, and formed a series of brands such as "Internet +", "Challenge Cup", e-sports, and mechanical innovation design competitions. It has won 257 national first prizes. The work "Jilin Temporary-Promoter of Corn Gluten-free Healthy Diet" won the gold medal in the finals of the 8th China International "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The Beihua University Dragon Boat Team has won 85 gold medals in major international and domestic dragon boat events, and represented Jilin Province in the 13th National Games and the 14th National Winter Games, winning 7 gold medals. Won the championship in the 2023 First China College Students' Soft Hockey Championship. The school has 57 national and provincial scientific research platforms, such as the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory and the Key Laboratory of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, and 20 provincial innovation teams. It was the first comprehensive university in the country to establish an ice and snow college and an ice and snow education alliance to serve the development of the ice and snow industry. The school has established cooperative relations with 73 colleges or educational institutions in 20 countries and regions, and carried out various forms of cooperative training for undergraduates and postgraduates. It has carried out Sino-foreign cooperative education projects for undergraduate majors with three universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and Finland, and co-built a Confucius Institute with Gangwon University in South Korea. The school is the second batch of national demonstration bases for studying in China, a college that accepts Chinese government scholarships and Confucius Institute scholarships for international students, a qualified school for international students in clinical medicine (English-taught), and has been rated as an advanced collective for international students in China. The school has effectively expanded adult and continuing education, and has formed a multi-form, multi-level, multi-standard, and multi-channel school-running model including adult higher education, continuing education, self-study examinations, and vocational skills training. There are 26,846 students in continuing education.
