Guizhou Normal University is located in Wudang District, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is a provincial full-time general undergraduate college. The predecessor of the school was Guizhou Education College founded in 1978. It was restructured into a full-time general undergraduate college in 2009. In 2012, it was qualified as a bachelor's degree awarding unit. In 2015, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it became the construction unit of the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" master's degree awarding project in Guizhou Province. In 2017, it was approved as a provincial "Double First-Class" construction project construction unit. In 2023, it passed the undergraduate education and teaching review and evaluation as a pilot in Guizhou Province. The school currently has 18 teaching units and 52 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines such as economics, law, education, literature, science, and engineering. There are more than 13,700 full-time students, forming a multi-level and multi-form talent training system covering undergraduate education, graduate education (joint training), international student education, and continuing education. There is an affiliated middle school-Guizhou Experimental Middle School. The school has 1,110 faculty members, 78 of whom have won provincial and ministerial talent titles, 1 expert enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 7 experts enjoying special allowances from the provincial government, 4 provincial experts, 11 provincial teaching masters, and 55 people selected as Guizhou Province's 100 Leading Talents, 1,000 Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talents, 100 High-level Innovative Talents, and Provincial Outstanding Young Science and Technology Talents. There are 14 provincial talent bases, science and technology innovation talent teams, and teaching teams, and 102 part-time master and doctoral tutors outside the school. The school currently has 3 provincial first-class construction disciplines, 8 provincial characteristic key disciplines, provincial key disciplines, 5 national first-class undergraduate majors, 16 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, and 2 national first-class undergraduate courses; 1 national mass innovation space, 40 provincial key laboratories, university humanities and social science bases, academician workstations, "2011 Collaborative Innovation Center" and other provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms. In recent years, 140 national projects have been approved, including 68 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 72 National Social Science Foundation projects, and more than 450 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects; more than 80 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards and above have been won. The school has always adhered to the direction of running schools with Chinese characteristics, implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, trained 1/3 of the teachers and 4/5 of the famous teachers and principals for Guizhou's basic education, and delivered more than 300,000 outstanding professional talents to the economy and society. In the past three years, students have won more than 500 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above in competitions such as "Internet +" and "Chuang Qingchun", and won 4 gold medals in the China International "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The results have been tied for the first place in the national normal universities for two consecutive years, the first place in the newly built undergraduate colleges in the country, and the first place in Guizhou Province. The first prize in the innovation group of the 9th "Chuang Qingchun" China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has achieved a breakthrough in the zero gold medal of the competition in Guizhou Province. The school adheres to the principle of open education, and has established friendly cooperative relations with universities and educational institutions in the United States, Britain, Canada, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries. It has joined the "China-Thailand Higher Education Alliance" and the "China-Indonesia Industry-University-Research Alliance", and has successively hosted the "China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week Opening Event", "Chinese Education School Principals Forum", "Guiyang International Forum on Ecological Civilization", "China-ASEAN Music and Dance Education Academic Seminar", etc. It has established counterpart assistance relationships with universities such as Central China Normal University, South China Normal University, Qingdao University, and Wuhan Conservatory of Music, and has jointly trained master's students with universities such as Northeast Forestry University, Guizhou University, Guizhou Normal University, and Guizhou University of Finance and Economics. The school adheres to the principle of "facing the grassroots, serving basic education, and connecting with needs", and has clarified the school-running positioning of "application-oriented, normal-oriented, and open". Adhering to the school motto of "being a model for others", it has forged the spirit of the Teachers' College of "one person's one, I'm ten, stick to the green mountains and don't relax, and don't give up until the goal is achieved". The school is one of the first batch of "three-dimensional education" comprehensive reform pilot colleges and departments in the country, the Ministry of Education's national training base for primary and secondary school principals in the western region, the leading unit for the construction of an integrated ideological and political course community for universities, middle schools and primary schools in Guizhou Province, the training and management unit for famous teachers and principals in Guizhou Province, the main training unit for educational administrative cadres in Guizhou Province, and the quality control unit for the evaluation of the connection between consolidating the results of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in Guizhou Province. At present, the school is forging ahead towards the goal of building a first-class, distinctive, applied university in the region.
