Changzhou Institute of Technology is a full-time public undergraduate university located in Changzhou, a national historical and cultural city with developed economy, prosperous culture and education, convenient transportation, and beautiful and rich resources. The predecessor of the school was Changzhou July 21 Industrial University founded in 1978. In 1980, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province approved the establishment of Changzhou Vocational University. In 1982, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Changzhou Institute of Technology. In 2000, the Ministry of Education approved the merger of Changzhou Institute of Technology and Changzhou Mechanical and Metallurgical Workers University to form Changzhou Institute of Technology at the undergraduate level. In 2003, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province approved the incorporation of Changzhou Normal College (under preparation) into Changzhou Institute of Technology. In 2011, the school was approved as a pilot university for the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, the school was officially approved as a project construction unit for the awarding of master's degrees in Jiangsu Province. In 2021, the school's Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College was approved as the first batch of national modern industrial colleges. In 2023, the non-independent legal person Sino-foreign cooperative education institution established in cooperation with the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom-Changzhou Institute of Technology Hertford College was approved by the Ministry of Education. The school currently has Liaohe Road Campus, Wushan Road Campus, Huiguanbang Road Continuing Education College and Changjiang Road Science and Technology Industrial Park, with a total area of nearly 1,500 acres and a construction area of 600,000 square meters; it has 19 teaching units, 60 undergraduate majors, and recruits students from more than 20 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, with 16,504 regular full-time students; there are 1,350 faculty and staff, including more than 1,000 full-time teachers, 566 teachers with doctoral degrees (the doctoral rate of full-time teachers exceeds 55%), more than 500 teachers with senior professional titles, and more than 120 master's degree supervisors; there are more than 190 foreign academicians of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, provincial "experts with outstanding contributions", provincial "famous teachers", provincial "333 Project" training candidates and provincial "Blue and Green Project" training targets, as well as 6 provincial outstanding science and technology innovation teams and outstanding teaching teams. The total area is 1,500 mu, with 19 teaching units, 60 undergraduate majors, 16,504 students and 1,350 on-the-job teaching staff. The school adheres to the focus on talent training, focuses on the needs of local industrial development, continuously optimizes the professional structure, takes first-class professional construction as the guide, takes professional certification as the starting point, and takes industry-education integration as the path to continuously improve the quality of professional connotation construction. The school currently has 48 majors for enrollment, with 9 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 19 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 6 provincial industry-education integration brand majors, 1 national characteristic major, 5 pilot majors of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, 1 pilot major of the Ministry of Education's Comprehensive Reform, 4 pilot majors of the Provincial Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, and 2 provincial excellent engineer education and training programs.There are 2 provincial specialty project construction sites, 4 provincial specialty majors, 5 provincial key majors (categories), 3 first-phase engineering projects for the construction of provincial university brand majors, 6 majors have passed the international engineering education professional certification, and 1 major has passed the second-level certification of the Ministry of Education for normal education; there are 8 national first-class undergraduate courses, 25 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, and 6 provincial first-class courses for industry-education integration; the school has been approved by the Ministry of Education for the first batch of "new engineering" research and practice projects and the first batch of new liberal arts research and reform practice projects. The school has ranked among the top 25 in the national newly-established undergraduate colleges and universities for 4 consecutive years. In 2021, the school won 2 first prizes of the provincial teaching achievement award and won the title of "China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Demonstration Base". In the 45 years since its establishment, the school has trained and supplied more than 100,000 high-quality applied talents that meet the needs of local economic and social development. The school insists on taking discipline construction as the leader, constantly integrating discipline resources, refining discipline directions, and vigorously promoting the construction of first-class applied disciplines. It currently has 4 key disciplines of Jiangsu Province's "14th Five-Year Plan", including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and business administration. It has built industry joint innovation laboratories such as electronic waste resource utilization, coordinated disposal of chemical hazardous waste and industrial solid waste, and green and fine disassembly and utilization of scrapped cars. A total of 30 scientific research platforms such as key laboratories at the provincial and ministerial levels and above, public service platforms, engineering technology research centers, and engineering research centers have been built. It has excellent scientific and technological innovation teams in Jiangsu universities, such as air-space information perception and drone application research, intelligent networked car information security, etc. It has built a Jiangsu Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, a Changzhou Science and Technology Enterprise Incubator that integrates R&D, production and practice - Changzhou Institute of Technology University Science and Technology Park, as well as 10 on-campus industry-university-research integration centers such as CNC technology application and equipment, software, and construction engineering technology.
