Hengyang Normal University is an ordinary full-time public undergraduate institution approved by the Ministry of Education and directly under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province. In March 1999, Hengyang Normal College and Hengyang Education College merged to form Hengyang Normal College. In February 2001, Hunan Province Third Normal School was merged.
