Linyi University is located in Linyi, Shandong Province, a famous historical and cultural city, a capital of commerce and logistics, a waterfront ecological city, a red tourism city, and a national civilized city. It is a comprehensive university with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art, and has distinctive characteristics. It is one of the first batch of universities supported by the construction of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province, and a famous university with characteristics of applied talent training in Shandong Province. It was evaluated by the Ministry of Education as an "excellent university in undergraduate teaching level evaluation". The school is the only comprehensive university in the Yimeng Revolutionary Old Area. Its predecessor was supported and built by the First Branch of the Chinese Anti-Japanese Military and Political University in 1941. It has gone through the development stages of Binhai Jianguo College, Linyi First Normal School, Linyi Teachers Continuing Education School, Linyi Education College, Linyi Teachers College, and Linyi Normal College. It started undergraduate education in 1998, and was renamed Linyi University in 2010 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2018, it was approved as a master's degree awarding institution.
