Qiqihar University was founded in 1952 and is the only provincial comprehensive general university in the western region of Heilongjiang Province. The university is located on the shore of Laodong Lake in Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, the hometown of the famous red-crowned cranes on the banks of the Nenjiang River. It covers an area of 1.39 million square meters and a building area of 850,000 square meters. It enjoys the reputation of "University Surrounded by Lakes". The university is one of the three comprehensive universities in Heilongjiang Province, a national civilized unit, an excellent school for undergraduate teaching work level assessment by the Ministry of Education, and a key university in the Heilongjiang Province Higher Education Strong Province (Phase I). The university currently has 23 colleges (departments) and 7 teaching auxiliary units. There are 77 undergraduate majors covering 12 disciplines, of which 8 majors such as Chemical Engineering and Technology, Food Science and Engineering, Clothing and Apparel Design are national first-class professional construction points, 19 majors such as English, Polymer Materials and Engineering, Marketing are provincial first-class professional construction points, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Food Science and Engineering, Inorganic Non-metallic Materials Engineering have passed the engineering education professional certification, Biological Sciences, Chinese Language and Literature, English, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics have passed the secondary certification of teacher training majors, Horticulture has been approved as the provincial "Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Education and Training Program", 9 national first-class courses have been approved, 38 provincial first-class courses have been approved, 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching center, 3 national and provincial college students' off-campus practical education bases, 83 Ministry of Education's industry-education integration collaborative education projects, and 41 provincial teaching achievement awards in the past three years. Together with Qizhong CNC, Feihe Dairy and other companies, the modern industrial college has been built. It is a provincial characteristic application-oriented undergraduate demonstration and cultivation university and a provincial demonstration school for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. There are 18 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 15 master's professional degree authorization categories, 4 provincial key disciplines, and it is a newly added doctoral degree project construction unit in Heilongjiang Province. Two disciplines, chemistry and engineering science, are in the top 1% of the ESI global rankings. It is one of the 9 provincial universities with more than 2 ESI top 1% disciplines. It has been approved as a provincial "double first-class" (Phase II) characteristic discipline construction university. Two discipline groups, plant-based food processing technology and hemp (industrial hemp) deep processing and key detection technologies, have been approved as provincial "double first-class" (Phase II) characteristic disciplines. The first-level discipline of food science and engineering has been listed as a superior characteristic discipline in Heilongjiang Province's higher education strong province (Phase II). It has been conducting graduate education for 39 years, with 3 provincial excellent graduate tutors, 16 specially appointed professors, 1 provincial excellent graduate tutor team, and 3 provincial excellent graduate guidance teams. In the past three years, it has been approved for 1,487 scientific research projects of various types and levels, including 174 national, provincial and ministerial projects, and won 46 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above. The school currently has two engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education, namely, cold-region hemp and products and plant-based food processing technology. It is the only provincial university in our province with two engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education. It has been approved as the National Technology Innovation Center for Industrial Hemp Market Supervision, 7 provincial key laboratories including surfactants and industrial additives, corn deep processing theory and technology, polymer-based composite materials, resistance gene engineering and cold-region biodiversity protection, micro-nano sensor devices, catalytic synthesis of fine chemicals and big data network security detection and analysis, 4 provincial engineering technology research centers including corn staple food industrialization project, fruit and vegetable grain beverage project, agricultural multidimensional sensor information perception, precision manufacturing equipment and industrial perception engineering, 2 provincial technology innovation centers including agricultural microbial preparation industrialization and industrial hemp processing technology, 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers for intelligent manufacturing equipment industrialization and agricultural biological preparation industrialization, the Provincial Key Laboratory of Philosophy and Social Sciences for Regional Innovation and Industrial Integration Development in the Nenjiang River Basin, the Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Base for the History and Culture of the Nenjiang River Basin and the Provincial Key Think Tank for the Protection and Inheritance of Ethnic Minority Historical and Cultural Heritage Research, the chairman unit of the Provincial Corn Deep Processing Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, and a provincial technology transfer demonstration institution. The achievement of "Resource Utilization Technology of Aquaculture Wastewater" was identified as reaching the world's advanced level, and the patent transformation of "Normal Temperature Desalination and Resource Utilization of Glutamic Acid Concentrated Mother Liquor" reached 20 million yuan, ranking first among provincial universities in the annual single achievement transformation, and introduced 300 million yuan of strategic investment for our province. It has a first-class gymnasium, swimming pool, concert hall and student cultural and sports activity center in the province.
