Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1958. It is one of the earliest higher traditional Chinese medicine colleges in my country. It has been selected as a key university in Fujian Province twice. It is a "first-class university" construction university in Fujian Province and a university jointly built by the Fujian Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The school has 13 colleges (departments) and 2 research institutes; there are 2 postdoctoral research stations for Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine; there are 3 doctoral degree authorization points for Chinese medicine, integrated Chinese and Western medicine and doctoral degree in Chinese medicine; there are 6 first-level master's degree authorization disciplines such as Chinese medicine, integrated Chinese and Western medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, and nursing; there are 5 master's professional degree categories such as Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine, nursing, medical technology, and clinical medicine; there are 19 undergraduate majors such as Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine orthopedics, acupuncture and massage, clinical medicine of Chinese and Western medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, drug preparation, pharmaceutical engineering, nursing, public utilities management, medical imaging technology, food science and engineering, rehabilitation therapy, information management and information system, health service and management, hearing and speech rehabilitation, rehabilitation physical therapy, and rehabilitation occupational therapy. There are nearly 14,000 full-time students, including more than 2,700 graduate students. The school currently has more than 6,000 teaching and medical staff (including 4 directly affiliated hospitals), including more than 1,000 professional and technical personnel with senior titles; it has 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (dual-appointed professor), 1 academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, 3 national medical masters, 5 national famous Chinese medicine practitioners, 3 Qihuang scholars of the National "Hundreds of Thousands" Talent Project for the Inheritance and Innovation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Qihuang Project), 4 young Qihuang scholars, 2 winners of the "National Outstanding Contribution Award for Traditional Chinese Medicine", 6 members of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education (including 1 deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine Majors, 1 deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Majors), and 1 young top talent of the National "Ten Thousand Talents Plan"; it has a group of national candidates for the "Hundreds of Thousands" Talent Project, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to the state and the Ministry of Health, experts with special allowances from the State Council, instructors of national famous old Chinese medicine academic successors, one hundred outstanding young Chinese medicine practitioners in the country, national outstanding teachers, etc., and 1 team was selected as the "National Huang Danian-style Teacher Team in Colleges and Universities". In 2002 and 2007, the school was awarded "excellent" twice in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education. In December 2010, Traditional Chinese Medicine passed the pilot professional certification of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation, and rehabilitation physical therapy and rehabilitation occupational therapy passed the international education standard certification of the World Physical Therapy Federation and the World Occupational Therapy Federation respectively. In May 2017, Traditional Chinese Medicine passed the professional certification of the Ministry of Education. In March 2019, Nursing passed the professional certification of the Ministry of Education. In March 2020, Clinical Medicine passed the professional certification of the Ministry of Education. At present, the school has 9 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 4 national characteristic majors, 1 national comprehensive professional reform pilot, 2 national excellent doctors (TCM) education and training plan reform pilot projects, 1 national off-campus practice education base for college students, 1 national talent training model innovation experimental area, 1 national TCM clinical teaching and training demonstration center, 10 national first-class undergraduate courses, 2 national curriculum ideological and political demonstration projects, 3 national quality courses, 2 national quality video open courses, 3 national quality resource sharing courses, 1 national bilingual teaching demonstration course, 2 national teaching teams, 1 national first batch of virtual teaching and research room construction pilot. Edited 67 textbooks for the "12th Five-Year Plan", "13th Five-Year Plan" and "14th Five-Year Plan". Won 1 national first prize and 2 second prizes in teaching achievement awards, 7 provincial special prizes, 19 first prizes and 21 second prizes. The university has won 4 provincial and above special prizes, 45 first prizes, 53 second prizes, and 46 third prizes in teacher teaching competitions, including 2 national first prizes, 3 second prizes, and 3 third prizes. The university has 11 key disciplines of TCM in the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 9 key disciplines of TCM in the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and 8 high-level key discipline construction projects of TCM in the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Two disciplines, namely, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, have been selected as the main disciplines of the second round of "Double First-Class" construction in Fujian Province, and 5 disciplines have been selected as provincial key discipline construction projects of TCM. The disciplines of clinical medicine and pharmacology and toxicology are among the top 1% in the ESI global ranking. Our school has 826 scientific research achievements that have been awarded at the national, provincial and municipal levels, including 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 second prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award (Popular Science). In the past five years, the school has further promoted scientific and technological innovation, increased investment in scientific research, and undertaken nearly 3,400 scientific research projects, including more than 160 national projects, achieving breakthroughs in key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, major new drug creation projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, regional joint fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and national social science funds. The school has 4 directly affiliated hospitals, of which the Affiliated People's Hospital is a national clinical research base for traditional Chinese medicine, the Affiliated Second People's Hospital is a key traditional Chinese medicine hospital for the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation Project, the Affiliated Third People's Hospital is a national high-level talent training base for traditional Chinese medicine, and the Affiliated Rehabilitation Hospital is a rehabilitation hospital certified by the International Rehabilitation Quality Certification Committee (CARF); there are 11 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 9 clinical medical schools, and more than 100 teaching and graduation internship bases of various types. There are 8 national clinical key specialties such as rehabilitation, anorectal, spleen and stomach, and surgery, and 19 key specialties and special diseases of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Pingshan Campus has established the National Medical Hall Hospital to provide services to the society. The school has two campuses, covering a total area of 1,030 acres, with a total building area of more than 360,000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of more than 575 million yuan, more than 1.53 million paper books and 1.4 million electronic books. The school has excellent facilities, equipped with modern teaching, scientific research, administrative, living and other facilities, and has built a humanistic landscape rich in the culture of traditional Chinese medicine. It has been awarded the honorary titles of "National Advanced Unit for Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Construction" and "National Model Unit for Greening". It has been awarded the honorary title of "Civilized School" by the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and the Fujian Provincial People's Government for seven consecutive times, and has been awarded the honorary title of "Civilized Campus" in Fujian Province for two consecutive terms. The school has been identified as the first batch of "Energy-Saving Public Institution Demonstration Units" in the country, and won the honorary title of "Public Institution Energy Efficiency Leader" in the country, and was selected as one of the first batch of typical cases of national water-saving universities. The school is the first Chinese medicine school in the mainland to recruit students from Taiwan and one of the earliest to recruit foreign students. It has now formed a multi-level, multi-standard and multi-form education structure for Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, including doctoral, master's, bachelor's and short-term training. Alumni in the United States, Australia, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao have become the backbone of the local Chinese medicine community; it has established exchange and cooperation relations with nearly 100 universities, scientific research and medical institutions and academic groups in more than 20 countries and regions; the school took the lead in establishing the first overseas Chinese medicine center in Fujian Province - the "China-Philippines Chinese Medicine Center"; it was approved as the first Sino-foreign cooperative education project in Fujian Province for medical-related majors - the Sino-foreign cooperative education project in nursing; it continues to create brand projects for foreign exchange activities with Taiwan, and held the 15th "Cross-Strait Chinese Medicine Academic Exchange Seminar", the 14th "Cross-Strait Chinese Medicine Traditional Culture Study Camp", and 3 "'Maritime Silk Road' Chinese Medicine Health Forum". In the new development stage, the school will be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, uphold the school motto of "Great Physicians Be Sincere and Strive for Perfection", further inherit the essence, uphold the truth and innovate, and strive to build the school into a high-level, distinctive, first-class university of traditional Chinese medicine with traditional Chinese medicine as the main body and coordinated development of multiple disciplines.
