Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology is located on the banks of the Songhua River in Harbin, the beautiful summer capital of the ice city. After 76 years of construction and development, it has become a multidisciplinary university with coordinated development of science, engineering, management, liberal arts, economics, and law, with engineering as the main discipline and mining as the main discipline. It has made outstanding contributions to the development of regional economy and society and my country's coal industry, and is known as the "backbone of the coal industry". The school is a university jointly built by the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Emergency Management (State Administration of Work Safety), an excellent university in the national teaching work level assessment, and a demonstration university for the construction of characteristic applied undergraduate programs in Heilongjiang Province. The school was founded in 1947. Its predecessor was the Northeast Workers' School, the first mining school in my country founded by the Communist Party of China. In 1954, it merged with the Hegang Coal Mine School to form the Jixi Coal Mine School. In 1978, the State Council agreed to add the Jixi Mining College, which was renamed the Heilongjiang Mining College in 1981 and was affiliated to the former Ministry of Coal Industry. In 1998, it was transferred to the local government and implemented a system of co-construction by the central and local governments and management by Heilongjiang Province. In 2000, it was renamed Heilongjiang Institute of Science and Technology. In 2013, it was renamed Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology. There are 5 provincial and ministerial key laboratories (including 1 provincial and ministerial co-construction laboratory), 9 provincial and ministerial engineering technology research centers, 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, 1 provincial key cultivation think tank, and 1 provincial university humanities and social sciences key research base. It has a number of high-end scientific and technological service platforms such as the first-class engineering training and basic experimental center in China. The school currently has 61 undergraduate majors, including 6 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 18 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points, and 6 majors that have passed the national engineering education certification. 2 national first-class courses, 16 provincial first-class courses, 2 provincial course ideological and political construction demonstration courses, 6 provincial course ideological and political demonstration courses and teaching teams. 2 national off-campus practice education bases for college students, 1 provincial talent training model innovation demonstration zone, 1 national demonstration virtual simulation experimental teaching project, 3 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, 1 provincial demonstration virtual simulation experimental teaching project, 4 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 talent training centers for revitalizing the old industrial base in Northeast China, and 1 national coal mine safety training base. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has undertaken 47 national projects such as the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Key R&D Program Project (Topic), and the National Natural Science Foundation Project, and 136 provincial and ministerial projects, with a total science and technology funding of 508 million yuan. Won 64 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. There are 5 provincial (ministerial) key laboratories such as the Deep Coal Mine Ground Pressure Control and Gas Control Laboratory, 9 provincial (ministerial) engineering centers, 1 provincial think tank of the Resource City Sustainable Development Research Center, and 1 provincial collaborative innovation center for "mineral resource development and utilization". The central laboratory of "Basic Research on Safety of Gas and Other Hydrocarbon Gas Transportation Pipeline Networks" serving the national safety production technology support system is an early research platform for hydrate technology to prevent gas disasters and gas solidification storage and transportation at home and abroad. The school insists on strengthening foreign exchanges and cooperation. It actively promotes cross-cultural learning interactions, broadens the scope of international cooperation, has carried out Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with Russia and Canada for more than 20 years, and has established inter-school partnerships with 29 foreign universities. The school has won more than 20 national honors such as "National Civilized Unit", "National May 1st Labor Award", "National Education System Care for the Next Generation Advanced Collective", "National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee", and more than 80 provincial honors such as "Advanced Grassroots Party Organization", "Civilized Unit Model", and "Top Ten Units for Teacher Ethics Construction".
