Jining Medical College was founded in 1952 and was originally called Shandong Jining Medical College. With the approval of the Shandong Provincial People's Committee, it was renamed Jining Medical College in 1958. It was renamed several times and was restored to Jining Medical College in January 1987 with the approval of the State Education Commission. The school currently has Jining Taibai Lake Campus, Rencheng Campus and Rizhao Campus. It has built a teaching and technology park with Jining National High-tech Zone, covering a total area of 1.06 million square meters and a building area of 470,000 square meters. II. Education and Teaching The school is a provincial general undergraduate medical college with medical education as its main body and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as medicine, science, engineering, management, and liberal arts. As a clinical medicine master's degree-granting institution and an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education, it has passed the clinical medicine professional certification of the Ministry of Education with excellent results; it has 19 teaching units and 36 undergraduate majors, including 2 national first-class undergraduate majors and 18 provincial first-class undergraduate majors; it recruits students from 29 provinces (municipalities and regions) across the country, and currently has more than 17,000 full-time students; it has 4 national characteristic specialty construction sites, comprehensive reform pilot projects, and excellent doctor education and training plans, 4 national demonstration centers, 4 international cooperation laboratories, 10 experimental teaching demonstration centers, talent training model innovation experimental areas, and teaching teams; it has 4 national first-class undergraduate courses, 20 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 34 national quality courses, quality resource sharing courses, and provincial quality courses. The school conscientiously implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching, and cultivates a large number of high-quality medical and health talents for the society. The graduates are widely praised for their "solid business, noble character, and simple style". Since the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", it has won 14 provincial teaching achievement awards for higher education in Shandong Province, including 3 first prizes; more than 40 provincial and above teaching competition awards, including 1 special prize, 6 first prizes, and 7 second prizes; nearly 300 provincial and above science and technology innovation and subject competition awards, including 32 national awards, 16 provincial special prizes, and 46 provincial first prizes. 3. Faculty/Faculty There are 1,560 faculty members, including 1,268 full-time teachers, 616 teachers with senior professional titles, 94.8% of teachers with master's degrees or above, and 499 doctoral and master's degree supervisors; there are 9 Taishan Scholars, 3 young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in the province, and 4 people enjoying special government allowances; 1 national excellent teacher, 10 provincial teaching masters, 10 provincial and municipal professional and technical top talents, and 14 Qilu Health and Health Outstanding Youth. 4. Disciplinary Research and Social Service/Disciplinary Research and Social Service Clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology disciplines are among the top 1% in the ESI global ranking, and a "345 goose formation" discipline development system has been established. There is 1 provincial high-level cultivation discipline, 7 provincial key disciplines such as traditional Chinese medicine, 15 provincial youth innovation teams, and 18 provincial cultivation and scientific research innovation teams have been established. There are 1 national postdoctoral research workstation, 1 national research platform, 1 Shandong Provincial Academician Workstation, 24 provincial and ministerial research platforms such as the Shandong Birth Defect Research and Transformation Collaborative Innovation Center, 3 national clinical key specialties, 1 national TCM clinical key specialty cultivation project, 1 provincial specialty regional medical center, 26 provincial clinical key specialties, 3 provincial clinical boutique specialty specialties, and 5 provincial key disciplines. Since 2016, the school has won more than 100 provincial and ministerial awards, 58 authorized invention patents, and published 44 ESI highly cited papers. It has been approved as a comprehensive pilot unit for the new round of scientific and technological achievements transformation in Shandong Province and a base for scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer in Shandong Province. The Chinese Medical Association Behavioral Medicine Branch, Shandong Medical Association Behavioral Medicine Branch, Shandong Neuroscience Society, and Shandong Medical Association Forensic Medicine Branch are affiliated to the school, and it hosts the "Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science", "Chinese Diagnostics Electronic Journal" and "Journal of Jining Medical College". The Judicial Identification Center was awarded the title of "National Advanced Collective for Public Legal Service Work". It is a training base for legal talents in law schools in Shandong Province, a demonstration unit for the construction of provincial service standardization, and a provincial forensic standardized training base. It is the only leading institution in the entire field of forensic medicine in Shandong Province. 5. Cultural Heritage The school is rooted in the hometown of Confucius and Mencius, inherits Confucianism, runs medical holy land education, and cultivates talents with Confucian style and charm. Since its establishment, it has always adhered to the school-running purpose of "cultivating talents for the country and seeking health for the public", adhering to the school motto of "Mingde, benevolence, erudition, and perfection", promoting the school spirit of "seeking excellence and truth", forming a teaching style of "tireless teaching" and a style of study of "never tired of learning", clarifying the "three districts and one park" school-running pattern, and is committed to cultivating "high-moral character, superb business, and physical and mental health" application-oriented talents. 6. Affiliated Hospital There are 1 directly affiliated hospital, 13 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 196 practical teaching bases. Among them, the Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical College is a regional medical center in Shandong Province, with a total fixed asset value of 2.503 billion yuan and 4,100 open beds. In the performance assessment of national tertiary public hospitals, the hospital has been among the top 100 in the country for four consecutive years, and the national monitoring indicator level is A+; in the performance assessment of Shandong Provincial Health and Health Institutions, it has been among the top five in the province for three consecutive years, and has been commended by the National Health Commission and the Provincial Health Commission many times. Its comprehensive strength has jumped to the first echelon of hospitals of the same level in the country. VII. Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Over the years, the school has deeply implemented open education and widely absorbed the achievements of diverse civilizations. It has successively carried out cooperation projects with many domestic and foreign universities and research institutes such as the University of Warwick in the UK, the University of Leicester in the UK, the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, the Privotsky Research Medical University in Russia, the University of Alwan in Egypt, the Chungnam University in South Korea, the University of Malaya in Malaysia, the Institute of Forensic Science of the Ministry of Justice, the Shenzhen BGI Institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and the Hong Kong International Health Promotion Association, and established extensive and in-depth cooperation in the fields of joint schooling, exchange of teachers and students, and cultural and academic exchanges. Standing at a new historical starting point, the school will follow the positioning of “based in the region, facing Shandong, and radiating some advantageous disciplines and majors across the country”, follow the development blueprint outlined by the Fourth Party Congress, conscientiously implement the “1369” school-running strategy, unite its hearts and minds, forge ahead, and strive towards the goal of “comprehensively building a high-level medical university with distinctive characteristics”, and make new and greater contributions to higher medical education and medical science.
