Shandong Women's University is a provincial public undergraduate college and one of the three women's undergraduate colleges in the country. The school was founded in 1952, held adult higher education in 1984, held general higher vocational education in 1995, and was approved by the Ministry of Education to be rebuilt into a full-time undergraduate college in 2010. In 2016, it accepted the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education and passed the assessment smoothly. In 2021, the school was approved as a construction support unit for applied undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province, and in 2022, it was approved as a "Smart Education Demonstration School" in Shandong Province. The school has the Zhongyuhan Campus and the Changqing Campus. In September 2005, it moved into the Changqing Campus as a whole. The school covers a total area of more than 1,100 acres and a building area of 280,000 square meters. There are 95 laboratories (training) and more than 385 off-campus internship bases. The library has 1.3892 million paper books and 1.665 million electronic books. The school currently has 17,414 full-time students. There are 960 faculty members, including 889 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees, 381 with associate senior titles or above; 1 winner of the National May 1st Labor Medal, 3 experts with special allowances from the State Council, 1 national outstanding teacher, 1 member of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Public Administration Majors of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions in Shandong Province, 1 expert with special allowances from the provincial government, 6 provincial teaching masters, 1 expert in the first batch of high-end think tank talents in Shandong Province, and 6 other provincial talents. The Preschool Education Teaching and Research Section, Tourism Management Teaching Team, and Marketing Teaching Team were identified as provincial excellent teaching teams by the Provincial Department of Education. The "Economic Management School Teacher Team" of the School of Business Administration, the "Digital Finance Teacher Team" of the School of Economics, and the "Digital Accounting Teacher Team" of the School of Accounting were awarded the "Huang Danian-style Teacher Team of Shandong Universities". The "International Business English Course Teaching Team" of the School of Foreign Languages and the "Marketing Professional Teaching and Research Section" of the School of Business Administration were rated as exemplary grassroots teaching organizations of ordinary undergraduate colleges and universities in Shandong Province. The university has been approved as one of the Shandong Higher Education Institutions’ Advantageous Discipline Talent Teams and four of the Shandong Higher Education Institutions’ Youth Innovation Team Development Plan Project Teams. The university focuses on the goal of cultivating high-quality applied talents, continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching, and adjusts and optimizes the layout of disciplines and majors. It currently has 15 schools and departments, 44 general undergraduate majors, covering 8 disciplines including education, law, management, economics, art, literature, engineering, and science, and enrolls students from 19 provinces/autonomous regions across the country. Business administration was approved as a provincial characteristic major, and the preschool education major was identified by the Provincial Department of Education as a characteristic major in Shandong Province and a brand major in adult higher education in Shandong Province; two professional groups with business administration and preschool education as the core were approved as high-level applied project construction professional groups in Shandong Province; 10 undergraduate majors, including international economics and trade, tourism management, business administration, accounting, computer science and technology, human resources management, marketing, financial engineering, business English and digital media technology, were selected as first-class undergraduate major construction points in Shandong Province’s higher education institutions, and preschool education and social work majors were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction points. 28 courses were recognized as first-class undergraduate courses in Shandong Province, 5 courses were recognized as national first-class undergraduate courses, 1 course was recognized as a "golden course" in Shandong Province’s ideological and political courses, and 6 courses were recognized as Shandong Province’s ideological and political demonstration courses. Shandong University has won 1 second prize in the National Teaching Achievement Award for Basic Education, 5 first prizes, 13 second prizes and 4 third prizes in the provincial teaching achievement awards for higher education, vocational education and basic education; the "Comprehensive Reform Practice of Collaborative Training of Kindergarten Teachers" was approved as an excellent kindergarten teacher training reform project of the Ministry of Education. The Shandong Women's Entrepreneurship University, co-founded by the school and the Provincial Women's Federation, has trained more than 50,000 students and incubated more than 150 innovative and entrepreneurial projects. It has been rated as a provincial-level university student entrepreneurship incubation demonstration base in Shandong Province and a key base for women's innovation and entrepreneurship education in Shandong Province, which has strongly supported Shandong women's innovation and entrepreneurship and contributed to the national rural revitalization strategy. "Three-dimensional, one-stop chain management talent training model innovation experimental zone" and "kindergarten teacher inside and outside the school integrated talent training model innovation experimental zone" were selected as provincial innovation experimental zones; the major of financial engineering (financial big data direction) was approved as a demonstration brand major of Shandong Province's industry-education integration (school-enterprise cooperation); 2 projects were approved as the first batch of national new liberal arts research and reform practice projects; the Digital Creative Industry College and the Health and Elderly Care Industry College were approved as Shandong Modern Industry College, and the Science and Technology Innovation Finance College was approved as Shandong Province's professional characteristic college. In the past three years, students have won more than 170 national awards and more than 800 provincial and ministerial awards in high-level college student subject competitions such as the National Mathematical Modeling, "Internet+", and Challenge Cup. The school adheres to the strategy of developing the school through scientific research, strengthens scientific research platforms and team building, and increases scientific research projects and achievements year by year. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, school teachers have undertaken 24 national projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, Social Science Foundation, Education Science Planning, and Art Foundation, including 1 key project of the National Social Science Foundation, 224 provincial and ministerial projects, and won 23 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards, published 121 academic works, and authorized 318 national patents. Since 2020, new breakthroughs have been achieved in the National Social Science Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation projects, with 6 National Social Science Foundation projects and 4 National Natural Science Foundation Youth Science Foundation projects approved. The university adheres to the guidance of Marxist views on women, takes the initiative to lead advanced gender culture, and has increasingly prominent research characteristics in women/gender theory and practice. It has been approved as the Women/Gender Research and Training Base of the All-China Women's Federation and the Shandong Women's Federation, the Family Education Experimental Research Base of the All-China Women's Federation and the Shandong Women's Federation, the Shandong Women's Human Resources Development and Management Research Base, and the National Social and Women's Development Research Center in the Russian-speaking Areas along the Belt and Road.
