Huainan Normal University is a full-time general undergraduate college in Anhui Province. Its predecessor was Huainan Normal College, which was founded in 1958, closed in 1962, and reopened in March 1978. In 1999, Huainan Normal College, Huainan Education College (established in 1978), and Huainan Normal School (established in 1952) merged to form the new Huainan Normal College. In 2000, the Ministry of Education approved the upgrading of Huainan Normal College to the undergraduate level of Huainan Normal College. In 2007, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was the first among the newly established undergraduate colleges in Anhui Province to be identified as a provincial project construction unit for master's degree training. In 2018, it accepted the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education. In 2021, two majors, English and Biological Sciences, will be the first to enter the first batch of undergraduate admissions in ordinary colleges and universities. There are currently 9 teacher education majors, including English, Biological Sciences, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Chinese Language and Literature, Primary Education, Ideological and Political Education, Physics, and Preschool Education, and 11 non-teacher education majors, including Computer Science and Technology, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Electronic Information Engineering, Law, Social Work, Accounting, Financial Management, Automation, Software Engineering, E-commerce, International Economics and Trade, etc. A total of 20 majors have achieved the first batch of admissions. The school currently has two campuses, covering an area of 778,000 square meters, a total construction area of 580,000 square meters, a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment of 259 million yuan, a collection of 1.43 million paper books, and 1.78 million electronic books and periodicals. There are 4 national outstanding teachers, 1 national model teacher, 14 provincial outstanding teachers, 18 provincial teaching masters, and 34 provincial newcomers in the teaching arena.
