Hexi University is a general undergraduate college and master's degree awarding institution in Gansu Province. The Ministry of Education has determined that Fudan University is a counterpart-supported university, the Ministry of Education's teacher education collaborative quality improvement plan key support university, the Ministry of Education's excellent agricultural and forestry talent education and training plan reform pilot college, the National Ethnic Unity and Progress Demonstration Unit, and the Gansu Provincial Civilized Campus. Strategic Location Hexi University is located in Zhangye, a national historical and cultural city in the golden section of the Silk Road and the middle of the Hexi Corridor. It is the only comprehensive general undergraduate college within the nearly 2,000-kilometer section from Lanzhou to Urumqi; the school's service area is mainly for the Hexi Corridor, Gansu and the surrounding Xinjiang, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia, four ethnic minority provinces and regions. History of School Hexi University originated from the Gansu Provincial Zhangye Normal School founded in 1941; Zhangye Normal College was established in 1958, and after being reorganized and suspended, Zhangye Normal College was restored in 1978; the former Zhangye Agricultural School and Zhangye Vocational Technical School were merged in 2000; in 2001, it was upgraded to Hexi University; in 2014, the former Zhangye Medical College and Zhangye People's Hospital were merged. Over the past 82 years, more than 120,000 talents of various types have been trained. The school covers a total area of nearly 4,000 mu, with a school building area of 613,000 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 2.717 billion yuan, a total value of experimental instruments and equipment of 794 million yuan, a collection of 1.6 million paper books, and 1.8307 million electronic books; the school has a complete and advanced academic exchange center, a teacher teaching development center, a Dunhuang art inheritance and innovation center and other cultural activity venues, and is known as one of the most beautiful university campuses in Gansu. The affiliated Zhangye People's Hospital is a Class III Class A hospital, the first batch of national clinical teaching and training demonstration centers, and a national standardized training base for resident doctors. Subject professional schools adhere to the principle of teaching, agriculture, and medicine as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines.
