Longdong College is a full-time comprehensive provincial general undergraduate college located in Qingyang City, Gansu Province. Its predecessor was Qingyang Teachers College established in 1978 with the approval of the State Council. In 2001, Qingyang Regional Agricultural Science Research Institute and Qingyang Regional Agricultural School were merged as a whole. In 2003, Longdong College was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2012, Qingyang Medical School was merged as a whole. In 2013, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation. In 2015, it was listed as the first batch of transformation and development pilot colleges by Gansu Province. In 2017, it was determined by the Gansu Provincial Degree Committee as a master's degree project construction unit. In 2022-2023, it was listed as a counterpart support school by the Ministry of Education for East China University of Science and Technology, Shaanxi Normal University, South China University of Technology and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University. The school implements a provincial-local co-construction, provincial-based school-running system. The school currently covers an area of more than 1,400 acres and has a school building area of 570,000 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 1.07 billion yuan, the total value of teaching equipment is 140 million yuan, and the collection of books is 2.0236 million volumes. There are 17,196 full-time students, and the school recruits students from 28 provinces, cities and districts across the country. There are 1,344 faculty members, including 564 with senior professional titles or above; 880 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees; 4 experts with special allowances from the State Council, 54 winners of provincial outstanding experts, leading talents, talent projects, "Gardener Awards" and "Success Awards", 43 people enjoy Gansu Province's high-level professional and technical talent subsidies, 1 "Gansu Feitian Scholars Special Program Lecture Professor", 4 "Gansu Feitian Scholars Special Program Young Scholars", 118 people have received "Longyuan Talent Service Cards"; 96 people are concurrently doctoral supervisors and master supervisors in sister colleges. The school has 13 secondary colleges and a continuing education college, including Marxism, Literature and History and Culture, Education and Sports, Economic Management, Mathematics and Information Engineering, Agriculture and Bioengineering, Art, Petrochemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing, Medical College, Geography and Urban and Rural Planning, and New Energy. It offers 42 majors covering 11 disciplines including literature, science, education, engineering, agriculture, management, law, and medicine. The school currently has a national first-class undergraduate major in biological sciences, two national first-class undergraduate courses in Introduction to Nanliang Spirit and General Zoology, and 19 provincial first-class undergraduate majors; 9 provincial characteristic majors in civil engineering, primary education, agronomy, history, economics, petroleum engineering, physics, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, and computer science and technology; 40 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 27 provincial quality courses, and 1 provincial quality online open course; there is currently a national science practice education base in Zhengning Zhongwan Forest Farm; 10 provincial teaching teams including organic chemistry, animal biology, modern Chinese history, literature and art, and construction engineering; 11 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers including chemistry and chemical engineering, civil engineering, biology, electrical engineering, information engineering, agricultural and forestry technology, petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, and automation engineering; there are currently 10 provincial teaching masters. The school has jointly built a local legislation research base with the Standing Committee of the Qingyang Municipal People's Congress, and jointly built the Ziwuling Field Science Observation Research Station with Lanzhou University and the People's Government of Heshui County. The school has joined the "1+2+1 Sino-US Talent Training Program" project and has sent students to study in the United States, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Poland and other countries. The school has signed cooperation agreements with 23 institutions including the University of Central Oklahoma, Northern Arizona University, Tuscia University, St. Petersburg State University of Technology, Belarusian State University of Technology, and Jeonbuk National University of Korea. It is the initiator of the strategic alliance of universities along the “Belt and Road”. The Qingyang Data Information Industry Research Institute was established. The school has co-established four majors including Information and Computing Science (Big Data Analysis and Development) with Danai Group and Jepp, and cooperated with Shenzhen Absen Company to form the "Absen Class". The school has signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with seven counties and one district in Qingyang City, China Petroleum Qingyang Petrochemical Company, Changqing Oilfield Branch and other units, and established industry-university-research cooperation and internship employment integration bases in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Yangzhou, Xi'an and Xinjiang.
