Shaanxi Preschool Teachers College is a provincial public undergraduate college with teacher education as its main focus and training of preschool teachers as its specialty. The school was formerly known as Shaanxi Education College. It was established in 1963 by the merger of Shaanxi Xi'an Normal School (established in 1906) and Shaanxi Teachers' Continuing Education School (established in 1956). In March 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was restructured and renamed Shaanxi Preschool Teachers College. It is currently the only undergraduate college in the country named "Preschool Normal". The school adheres to the school motto of "virtue and erudition" and the school spirit of "establishing oneself and preaching, striving for self-improvement, being generous and magnanimous, and striving for perfection", adheres to the school-running positioning of "normal, local, and application-oriented", highlights the characteristics and advantages of preschool education and teacher education, solidly promotes transformation development, connotation development and characteristic development, and actively builds a five-in-one talent training system of "value shaping, knowledge imparting, ability training, quality improvement, and practical training", and has embarked on a development path with its own characteristics. The university is located in the ancient capital of Xi'an, a famous historical and cultural city. It currently has two campuses, Chang'an and Yanta. The campus environment is elegant and the conditions for running a school are excellent. It has modern teaching buildings, libraries, student apartments, student activity centers, teacher training buildings, etc. The library has more than 1.61 million paper books and more than 1.46 million electronic books. The university currently has 15 teaching units, including the School of Early Childhood Education, the School of Educational Sciences, the School of Marxism, the School of Literature, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Economics and Management, the School of History, Culture and Tourism, the School of Music, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Life Sciences and Food Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the School of Physical Education, and the School of Education and Training. The university has implemented the strategy of strengthening the school with talents, insisted on both attracting and training, continuously strengthened the teaching staff, and optimized the teaching staff structure. There are nearly 969 faculty and staff, including 574 full-time teachers, 263 full-time teachers with senior professional titles, and 110 full-time teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 7 famous teachers in Shaanxi Province, 2 young science and technology stars in Shaanxi Province, 1 young and middle-aged science and technology innovation leader in Shaanxi Province, 4 young outstanding talents in Shaanxi universities, 4 provincial teaching teams, 3 young innovation teams in Shaanxi universities, and 5 members of the Teaching Steering Committee of Shaanxi Higher Education Institutions. The school adheres to the principle of quality-oriented and quality-oriented. There are 27 general undergraduate majors, covering 8 disciplines of education, literature, history, science, law, engineering, management, and art, with more than 11,000 full-time general undergraduate and junior college students. The school continues to deepen the reform of education and teaching, and has achieved fruitful results in education and teaching. In 2021, it was selected as a local special enrollment institution of the "Excellent Teacher Plan" and was selected as a key Marxist college cultivation unit in Shaanxi Province. Two majors, preschool education and physical education, were selected as the first-class professional construction points of the national "Double Ten Thousand Plan", and nine majors, primary education, psychology, Chinese language and literature, ideological and political education, English, history, biological sciences, musicology, mathematics and applied mathematics, were selected as the first-class professional construction points of the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" in Shaanxi Province. There are 1 national-level teacher education resource sharing course, provincial and ministerial-level "first-class courses" (five types of gold courses) and more than 30 other types of high-quality resource sharing courses. It has been approved for 1 national-level teacher team building demonstration project, 2 provincial-level talent training model innovation experimental zones, 5 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship pilot college, and 1 provincial-level virtual teaching and research room. Won 4 national teaching achievement awards, 12 Shaanxi Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards (1 special award), 36 Shaanxi Basic Education Teaching Achievement Awards, 11 Shaanxi Higher Education Excellent Textbook Awards, and 1 textbook was selected as the first batch of national "14th Five-Year Plan" vocational education national planning textbooks. 40 teachers won awards in major teaching competitions such as the National College Young Teachers Teaching Competition, the National College Music Education Teachers Basic Skills Exhibition, the Shaanxi College Ideological and Political Teachers "Big Training" and the Shaanxi College Classroom Teaching Innovation Competition. The school vigorously implements the strategy of developing the school through scientific research and actively serves the needs of regional economic and social development in Shaanxi. At present, the university has the following key research bases: the "Core Values Cultivation and Red Cultural Gene Inheritance Collaborative Innovation Research Center", the key research base of philosophy and social sciences in Shaanxi universities: the "Preschool Education Development Research Center", the Shaanxi Provincial Science Education Base: the "Shaanxi Youth Science Literacy Development Research Center", the Shaanxi Provincial Public Science Literacy Development Research and Education Platform: the "Shaanxi Youth Science Literacy Education Research Center", the Shaanxi Provincial Social Science Association Science Base: the "Shaanxi Preschool Education Painting and Calligraphy Art Exhibition and Training Base" and the "Youth Red Gene Inheritance Education Base", and has established 24 on-campus research institutions, including the Shaanxi Regional Development Research Institute (co-built with the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government) and the Bioengineering Research Institute. In recent years, the university has undertaken 21 national scientific research projects and more than 640 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and won 48 provincial and ministerial scientific research awards. It has successively carried out strategic educational cooperation with Gaoling County, Weicheng District, Xianyang, Chunhua County and other counties and districts; carried out production, education and research cooperation with Shaanxi Yuntian Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Tianlutong Company and other enterprises, and jointly built "Kuanga Deep Processing R&D Center", "Eucommia Deep Processing R&D Center", "Persimmon Deep Processing Technology R&D Center", etc., and developed 66 application technology achievements and more than 40 varieties. 16 achievements have been transformed and more than 20 enterprise standards have been formulated. The school encourages and supports teachers and students to study abroad and participate in international conferences, and continuously improves the internationalization level of talent training. The school is one of the important bases for the training of primary and secondary school teachers, school principals and basic education management cadres in Shaanxi Province. Shaanxi Provincial Primary and Secondary School and Kindergarten Teacher Development Center, Shaanxi Provincial Primary and Secondary School and Kindergarten Principal Training Center, Shaanxi Provincial Teacher Qualification Certification Guidance Center, Shaanxi Provincial Primary and Secondary School Teacher Training Project Execution Office, Shaanxi Provincial Primary and Secondary School and Kindergarten Teacher and School Principal Training and Evaluation Center and other institutions are all located in our school. Over the years, a total of more than 190,000 basic education teachers and management cadres have been trained, and more than 180,000 undergraduate and junior college students have been trained, making important contributions to the development of basic education in Shaanxi Province. It is known as the "Cradle of Basic Education Teachers and School Principals in Sanqin".
