Historical evolution Liaoning University of Science and Technology is a provincial general undergraduate institution that focuses on engineering and coordinates the development of multiple disciplines. The Benxi County Normal Training Center was renamed Benxi Engineering Vocational School after the liberation of Northeast China in 1948. It was upgraded to Benxi Iron and Steel Industry College in 1958 and renamed Benxi Metallurgical College in 1985. In 2000, Benxi Vocational College and Benxi Normal College were merged into Benxi Metallurgical College.
