Aba Normal University was founded in 1978. Its location, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, is the main birthplace of the Red Army's fearless Long March spirit of "climbing snow-capped mountains and crossing grasslands". The school was originally located in Weizhou Town, Wenchuan County. After the "5.12" Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, it moved to the ancient city of Pi County, Chengdu, Tuanjie Town and Pengzhou City to resume classes. In 2011, it moved to Shuimo Town, Wenchuan County. In 2015, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college. In 2022, it was selected as a member of the China Higher Education Society. In 2023, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education. In the same year, it was approved as a "priority cultivation" university for the construction of a new master's degree project in Sichuan Province. The school is organized by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and supervised by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. There are currently 9,884 full-time students, including 8,972 undergraduates. [Education and Teaching] The school takes the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people, focuses on the cultivation of applied talents, highlights the cultivation of the consciousness of the Chinese nation, and initially builds an applied talent training model of "integration, two dockings, and three integrations". More than 90 alumni of our school are currently serving as county-level and department-level leading cadres in 13 counties in Aba Prefecture, accounting for about 10%; 2,500 alumni work in the education industry in Aba Prefecture, accounting for about 20%. Especially since the upgrade to a university, the school has made great progress in application-oriented education. The school is one of the first 72 colleges and universities in the country to form a transformation and curriculum reform alliance, the first batch of pilot colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education's scientific work capacity improvement plan (hundreds of millions of projects), an advanced collective of ethnic unity in Sichuan Province, a demonstration unit for ethnic unity and progress creation activities, and an advanced collective for employment of graduates from ordinary colleges and universities in Sichuan Province.
