Ordos Institute of Technology is located in Ordos, an important national modern energy and chemical base, a national civilized city, a national sanitary city, and the happiest city in China. History Ordos Institute of Technology is a full-time general undergraduate college established in April 2015 on the basis of Ordos College of Inner Mongolia University, which was established in 2008. It integrates the school resources of Inner Mongolia University of Technology Mining College and Ordos College of Inner Mongolia Medical University. It is the first batch of undergraduate colleges named "Applied Technology" approved by the Ministry of Education during the transformation and development of local universities. School conditions The school covers an area of 766,241.81 square meters, with a construction area of 254,362.51 square meters and a teaching and administrative area of 147,745.58 square meters. The total value of fixed assets is 1.88 billion yuan, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 196.4543 million yuan. 8 experimental training centers, 31 laboratories and 14 training rooms have been built, with a usable area of 27,494.49 square meters. The library has a collection of 822,600 paper books, 615,000 electronic books, and 24 digital resource databases. A campus network with a 10G backbone and a gigabit to the desktop has been built, with a total bandwidth of 10.1G. The network covers the entire campus and has nearly 15,000 information points. The school currently has 11 teaching departments and 3 auxiliary teaching units. In 2019, the large aircraft college was built. There are currently 7,469 students, including 7,117 undergraduates, accounting for 95.29% of the total number of students; there are 1,552 minority students, accounting for 20.78% of the total number of students. The faculty currently has 659 faculty members and 415 full-time teachers, including 378 full-time teachers and 37 external teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 128 have associate senior titles or above, accounting for 33.86%; 43 have doctoral degrees, 301 have master's degrees, and 91.1% have master's degrees or above; 126 dual-qualified teachers, accounting for 33.33%. There are 1 specially appointed academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 31 master's tutors, 2 talents of the "Grassland Talent" project of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 4 second-level talents of the "New Century 321 Talent Project", 1 "Teaching Master" of the Autonomous Region, 4 "New Talents of the Teaching Arena" of the Autonomous Region, 1 "Tianjiao Talent" of Ordos, 21 "Grassland Talents" of Ordos City, 13 "Ordos Talents", 24 "Outstanding Young Talents of Ordos City", and 3 experts who enjoy special allowances from the municipal government and above. Professional Construction The school offers 26 undergraduate majors (directions), forming a discipline and professional system with engineering as the main subject, covering science, art, management, medicine, and law. There are 6 first-class undergraduate professional construction sites in the autonomous region, 6 first-class courses in the autonomous region, 2 autonomous region-level teaching and experimental demonstration centers, 3 autonomous region-level teaching teams, and the first intelligent manufacturing experimental training center in the region. The "Cloud Smart Workshop" has been rated as an autonomous region-level mass innovation space. The school actively carries out scientific research, technological innovation, popular science promotion, achievement transformation and decision-making consultation, and provides services for regional development and industry enterprises. In the past three years, the categories and research fields of scientific research projects have been continuously expanded, the total number of projects has increased year by year, and the approved funds have doubled. The National Natural Science Foundation projects have been approved for three consecutive years, and new breakthroughs have been achieved in the autonomous region's science and technology development, major science and technology projects and horizontal projects; 352 scientific research projects of all levels and types have been approved, and the approved funds are 40.5276 million yuan. Two autonomous region-level scientific research platforms have been approved, 424 academic papers have been published, of which 192 have been included in authoritative journals such as SCI, EI, SSCI, and CSSCI; 149 books have been published; and 312 intellectual property achievements such as invention patents, utility model patents, and software copyrights have been obtained. In the past three years, the school has won two second prizes and two third prizes in the autonomous region's teaching achievement awards; students have won more than 200 awards in autonomous region and above competitions; and won two national silver medals and four bronze medals in the "Internet +" college student innovation and entrepreneurship competition, eight gold medals and ten silver medals in the autonomous region; despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic in the past three years, the employment rate of graduates is still as high as 89.27% on average, ranking among the top undergraduate colleges in the autonomous region. The school has signed inter-school cooperation agreements with Inner Mongolia University of Technology, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Inner Mongolia Normal University and other institutions. The college actively promotes school-local and school-enterprise cooperation. The Autonomous Region Education Department, Ordos Municipal People's Government and the school signed a tripartite agreement to fully promote the co-construction of the college; established cooperative relations with more than 131 enterprises and institutions such as various economic parks, some banners, scientific research institutions, and large enterprises in Ordos City, and built 6 off-campus industry-university-research cooperation bases, 117 off-campus internship training bases, and jointly built the Ordos Modern Industry College with 4 units including the Management Committee of the National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The school's large aircraft modern industry college and modern energy and chemical industry college were approved as the first batch of autonomous region-level undergraduate college modern industry college construction sites. The school actively integrates into the regional economic and social development, and carries out discipline and professional construction, technical research and promotion and application research around the characteristic professional fields of Ordos coal chemical industry, equipment manufacturing, and smart mine construction. Many research results have been commended and promoted by the autonomous region or Ordos City. At present, one autonomous region academician expert workstation for mining geology and environment has been built, and two autonomous region science and technology progress awards, one autonomous region philosophy and social science outstanding achievement government award, and one Ordos policy consulting achievement have been won.
