Suihua University is a public comprehensive undergraduate college in Heilongjiang Province. It is located in Suihua City, the hometown of cold-region black soil and green products in China, more than 70 kilometers away from the provincial capital Harbin. The school has a long history. In 1953, with the approval of the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province, Suihua County founded Suihua Normal School; in 1971, Suihua District established Suihua District Normal School on the basis of the original Suihua Normal School; in 1978, with the approval of the State Council, Suihua Normal College was established. It is one of the first batch of higher normal colleges established in the country after the "Cultural Revolution"; in 2004, Suihua University was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2013, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education; in 2017, it was approved as a master's degree authorization project construction unit; in 2018, it passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education. It has carried out inter-school exchanges and cooperation with Pyatigorsk State University, Amur State Humanities Normal University, Far Eastern Federal University, Vitebsk State University, Belarus, Naples Academy of Fine Arts, Italy, Kyushu Foreign Languages College, Suwon University, South Korea and other national universities, and exchanged international students. The school has cooperated with the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation to build a special education college. It has the only undergraduate major in special education and undergraduate major in educational rehabilitation in Heilongjiang Province, and has opened a special education research journal. The school is the chairman unit of the Provincial Special Education Professional Committee, the provincial special education teacher training base, the provincial special education research and service base, the provincial special education academic exchange base, the provincial special art talent training base, the provincial disabled vocational training base and the China Disabled Persons' Volunteer Association Sunshine Disabled Assistance Base. It has co-built the "Modern Corn Industry College" and the "Corn Industry Industry-Education Integration Education Alliance" with the Suihua Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Heilongjiang Xinhecheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd., etc. to promote regional industrial development. On-site scientific research is carried out through platforms such as the Heilongjiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Environmental Catalysis and Energy Storage Materials and the Cold-region Black Soil Research Institute. It has successively carried out school-county co-construction with Qing'an, Wangkui, Suileng, Lanxi, Mingshui, Qinggang and other places to help counties carry out characteristic health care industry planning, tourism development, talent training, etc. It has built the Suihua City Corn Processing and By-product Bio-Utilization and Suihua City Cold-region Black Soil Ecological Protection and Utilization Engineering Technology Research Center, carried out technology research and development for local industries, and provided technical support to enterprises and institutions in the jurisdiction through the Suihua Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. The school has also built a ceramics research institute and a paper-cutting art design and creation studio, dedicated to the protection and inheritance of local intangible cultural heritage such as Suileng black pottery and Hailun paper-cutting.
