Shanxi Energy College is an applied general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and founded by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The college takes the cultivation of high-quality and highly skilled talents and the service of regional economic construction and social development as its mission, establishes the goal of "high-quality and high-end" talent cultivation, explores the talent cultivation model of "learning, teaching and doing in one", and innovates the "school-enterprise cooperation, work-study integration" school-running mechanism to realize the sharing of talent cultivation resources such as teachers, courses, and practical training inside and outside the college. It has explored school-enterprise cooperation and talent cultivation and achieved certain results. The college is a key construction project of the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Pilot Zone, a pilot college of applied undergraduates in Shanxi Province, and a pilot college for the construction of "industry-education integration" in local universities across the country. The college's power engineering and engineering thermophysics are the advantageous and characteristic disciplines of Shanxi Province's "1331 Project", and the high-performance conveyor belt laboratory is a key laboratory in Shanxi Province. The college adheres to the school motto of "establishing morality and strengthening ability, studying hard and doing good deeds", guided by the needs of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and taking the needs of traditional energy and new energy as its goal, it has gradually formed six major professional groups: energy power, new energy and future energy, intelligent manufacturing of energy equipment, smart energy, energy resources and environment, and energy economic management. Focusing on the six major professional groups, 13 teaching departments have been established, including the Department of Mining Engineering, the Department of Safety Engineering, the Department of Geology and Surveying Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Electrical and Control Engineering, the Department of Energy and Power Engineering, the Department of Resources and Environmental Engineering, the Department of Energy Chemistry and Materials Engineering, the Department of Computer and Information Engineering, the Department of Economics, the Department of Ideological and Political Theory, the Strong Foundation College and the Department of Continuing Education. 27 undergraduate majors are offered, and 9 2A enrollment majors are available. Each major echoes and cooperates with each other, striving to connect the talent chain required by energy and related enterprises from production to management, forming a professional cluster with the characteristics of the Energy College. It has been approved to have one advantageous and characteristic discipline of the Shanxi Province "1331 Project" and 6 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites. The college currently has two campuses, located in the Shanxi University Park with a strong academic atmosphere and the Xiaodian District of Taiyuan City with a high concentration of high-tech. The campus covers a total area of more than 760 acres, with a building area of nearly 200,000 square meters. The teaching and research equipment is worth more than 100 million yuan, with 721,780 paper books, 200,000 electronic books, more than 100 on-campus experimental training rooms, and 63 off-campus internship bases. The college insists on both introduction and cultivation, and emphasizes synergy and integration. The faculty team is composed of a group of old, middle-aged and young teachers, including outstanding young talents, excellent young talents, national hundreds of thousands of talents, and national teaching masters. It also strives to build a high-quality "double-teacher and dual-ability" teaching team with a combination of full-time and part-time teachers, sufficient quantity and reasonable structure. There are 512 faculty members, including 360 full-time teachers, 322 teachers with master's degrees or above, 76 doctors, 99 teachers with senior professional titles, 1 outstanding young talent, 2 excellent young talents, 2 national hundreds of thousands of talents, 1 "Sanjin Elite", 1 national teaching master, and 3 selected Shanxi Provincial Teaching Masters. There are more than 8,700 students. The college recruits students from 10 provinces, cities or regions, including Shanxi, Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia, Jiangxi and Xinjiang.
