Nanjing University of Technology is adjacent to the famous Zhongshan Scenic Area. It is a century-old prestigious school with a long history and profound cultural heritage. Its predecessor was the China Vocational School founded in 1918 by Mr. Huang Yanpei, a modern democratic revolutionist, social activist, and educator in my country. It was the first school in my country named after "vocation". In 1952, Huang Yanpei served as Vice Premier of the State Council and the first Minister of the Ministry of Light Industry, and handed over the school to the Ministry of Light Industry for management; in 1954, it was renamed Shanghai Mechanical School; in 1960, it was moved to Nanjing as a whole and renamed Nanjing Mechanical and Electrical School of the Ministry of Light Industry; in 1998, it was transferred from the Ministry of Light Industry to the management of Jiangsu Province; in 1999, it was upgraded to a higher vocational college and renamed Nanjing Industrial Vocational and Technical College; in 2019, it was upgraded to a vocational undergraduate school, tentatively named Nanjing Industrial Vocational and Technical College (undergraduate); in June 2020, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed Nanjing University of Technology. With a century of inheritance and succession, the school has cultivated a group of outstanding alumni and a large number of practical technical talents, including Zhang Wentian, Hua Luogeng, Jiang Zhuyun, Xu Boxin, Zhu Senlin, Qin Yi, Gu Xinyi, Wang Shiji, and Zou Shichang. The school has three campuses, Xianlin, Zhongshan, and Tiantang, covering an area of 1,360 acres and a building area of 460,000 square meters; teaching equipment is worth about 340 million yuan; there are 1.31 million books; there are 30 undergraduate majors and 46 junior college majors. There are 18,418 full-time students, including 13,081 undergraduates. There are more than 260 foreign students. There are 1,144 faculty and staff, of which 39.5% of full-time teachers have doctoral degrees, 48.2% of teachers have senior professional titles, and more than 92% of dual-qualified teachers. The school attaches great importance to the construction of the talent team and increases the efforts to attract and use talents. The university has 4 national-level teaching teams represented by the Huang Danian-style teaching team, 32 provincial-level teaching and technological innovation teams, 11 national technical experts, famous teachers of the "National Special Talent Support Program", special allowances from the State Council, provincial famous teachers, provincial "333 Project" training targets, Qinglan Project training targets, six major talent peak training targets, dual-innovation doctors, Zijin cultural and creative talents, outstanding young people in social sciences, Nanjing model workers, Nanjing "May 1st Labor Medal", Nanjing "Top Ten Vocational Education Teachers" and more than 240 people. There are 2 members of the Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and 15 members of the National Industry Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee (including 5 deputy directors). The school has improved and perfected the talent training model of "stratification and classification, integration of learning and practice, and integration of dual innovation" and continued to promote education and teaching reforms. He presided over the construction of the first batch of 4 national vocational education professional teaching resource library projects, 3 vocational education training bases supported by the central government, 13 national quality courses, quality resource sharing courses and online quality courses, and 46 national planning textbooks; won 6 national teaching achievement awards, including 2 first prizes. The China International College Student Innovation Competition won 7 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 9 bronze medals. 36 first prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, 14 first prizes in the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, 11 first prizes in the National College Student Electronic Design Competition, 1 first prize in the National College Teachers Teaching Innovation Competition, and 3 first prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition Teaching Ability Competition. The school insists on the path of industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, and continuously improves its scientific research and social service capabilities. The university has presided over 20 national projects and 58 provincial and ministerial projects; it has established two national industry-education integration communities with leading enterprises, high-level universities, research institutions, and vocational college industry organizations; it has been approved for one national "13th Five-Year Plan" industry-education integration development project planning project, one national "14th Five-Year Plan" education power promotion project, one provincial development and reform commission engineering research center, one provincial university collaborative innovation center (vocational college engineering technology center), two provincial industry-education deep integration training platforms, and one provincial university science and technology park (national science and technology enterprise incubator); it has established in-depth cooperative relations with 31 Fortune 500 companies, and established 17 cooperation platforms with leading companies such as Huawei, Siemens, ABB, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Rockwell. The school maintains a solid connection with more than 90 overseas organizations and colleges in more than 40 countries (regions) such as the World Federation of Vocational Colleges and Technical Universities (WFCP), and won the Gold Award for "Applied Research and Innovation" of the World Federation of Vocational Colleges and Technical Universities Excellence Award. The school's internationalization exploration results "Exploration and Practice of International Cooperation Education Paradigms for Higher Vocational Education" won the first prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award and the special prize of the Jiangsu Province Teaching Achievement Award. From 2017 to 2019, our school has been ranked among the top 50 national higher vocational colleges with international influence for three consecutive years. In 2020, the school built the country's first "Chinese + Vocational Skills" international promotion base. In 2021, the country's first vocational education Confucius Institute settled in the school. In 2023, the first overseas applied technology university for Chinese vocational education-Cambodia University of Applied Sciences was built. The world's first batch of "Chinese Workshops" and Zheng He College were built in Malaysia. The school integrates resources from multiple parties and actively builds platforms to serve vocational education with its unique advantages and contribute to vocational education with high-quality resources. It leads five national platforms, including the Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Thought Research Institute, the National Higher Vocational College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance, the Vocational Education Branch of the China Education International Exchange Association, the Higher Vocational Research Association of the China Light Industry Federation, and the National Machinery Industry Modern Electromechanical Technology Vocational Education Group, as well as nine provincial platforms, including the Jiangsu Light Industry Association and the Jiangsu Electromechanical Vocational Education Group. The school is the first public undergraduate vocational education pilot school in the country; the only State Council mass entrepreneurship and innovation demonstration base in vocational colleges in the country; the innovation and development center of ideological and political work in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education; the national vocational education "dual-qualified" teacher training base; the national vocational school principal training base; the first batch of internal quality assurance system diagnosis and improvement pilot schools in the country; the first batch of pilot colleges and universities in the country for "going out" of vocational education. The school has won the first place in the comprehensive assessment of provincial colleges (high-level higher vocational colleges) for five consecutive years. Facing the new century and embarking on a new journey, the school will hold high the great banner of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, play the role of "setting an example for others", and strive to become a demonstration of high-level technical and skilled talent training, a demonstration of "three-dimensional education" in vocational education, a demonstration of "three-education reform" in vocational colleges, a demonstration of "dual-qualified" teacher team building, and a demonstration of integration of production and education. It will bravely undertake the new mission of pilot demonstration and strive to write a new chapter in building a "national leading and world-class" vocational and technical university.
