Hebei Industrial Vocational and Technical University was founded in 1958. Its predecessor was the Technical School of Longyan Iron and Steel Company. In 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to become a higher vocational college. In 2006, it passed the evaluation of the talent training level of higher vocational colleges with an "excellent" grade; in 2008, it was listed as a national demonstrative higher vocational college construction unit; in 2011, it passed the acceptance of national demonstrative higher vocational colleges with "excellent" results; in 2019, the school was recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national high-quality higher vocational school. In the same year, it was successfully selected as a high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics. It is the only high-level higher vocational school with Chinese characteristics in Hebei Province. On January 26, 2021, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to become a public undergraduate-level vocational school. Hebei Industrial Vocational and Technical University is a national model university for party building work, a national comprehensive reform university for "three-dimensional education", and a national pilot university for the construction of a "one-stop" student community comprehensive management model. It is a national college practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base, a national graduate employment typical experience college, a national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience college, and one of the seven national higher vocational colleges selected in the top 50 cases of internship management, teaching management, and student management. It is a pilot unit of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education and the first batch of mixed-ownership pilot colleges in Hebei Province. The school is located in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei Province. It currently has three campuses: Hongqi, Xinshi, and Xibaipo. There are nearly 20,000 students, more than 1,000 full-time teachers on campus, and more than 500 part-time teachers are hired for a long time. The school has 15 teaching units including the Department of Materials Engineering, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, the Department of Automotive Engineering, the Department of Architectural Engineering, the Department of Computer Technology, the Department of Economics and Trade, the Department of Business Administration, the School of Marxism, the Department of Industrial Basics, the Department of Basic Courses, the Department of Adult Education, the Department of Elderly Education, the School of International Education, and the School of Internet. The school adheres to the school-running direction of facing the market, serving development, and promoting employment, firmly establishes the positioning, attributes and characteristics of vocational education, connects with high-end industries and industrial high-end, is based on advanced manufacturing, adheres to the characteristics of steel, and builds a high-level vocational and technical university that serves national strategies, supports regional development, and promotes industrial upgrading. The school has 28 vocational undergraduate majors and 58 junior college majors around the main pillar industries and characteristic industries in Hebei Province. There are 2 national "double high plan" construction professional groups, 4 provincial high-level professional groups, and 8 national backbone majors. The school continues to deepen education and teaching reforms, and has built 3 national teaching resource libraries; 4 national boutique resource sharing courses, 9 national boutique online open courses, 80 provincial boutique online open courses, 35 national planning textbooks for the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" and "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan", and 1 national excellent textbook; 58 national 1+X certificate system pilots. Won 4 national teaching achievement awards, including 1 first prize, 1 provincial teaching achievement award special prize, and 3 first prizes. In the past five years, 31 national awards for student vocational skills competitions have been added. The school has a team of "double-qualified" teachers with superb skills and a combination of full-time and part-time teachers. There are 3 national-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation teams, 1 national Huang Danian-style teacher team in colleges and universities, and 3 curriculum ideological and political teaching teams of the Ministry of Education. There are 5 national-level "double-qualified" teacher training bases, 2 provincial-level "double-qualified" teacher training bases, and a national-level modern pyrography and inner painting skills master studio. The school adheres to the integration of production and education and promotes collaborative education between schools and enterprises. It took the lead in establishing the Hebei Iron and Steel Coking Vocational Education Group, the National Iron and Steel Industry Vocational Education Alliance, the Hebei New Generation Artificial Intelligence Industry-Education Integration Alliance, the Hebei Commercial Vocational Education Group, and the Hebei Intelligent Construction Vocational Education Group. In 2020, the Iron and Steel Coking Vocational Education Group was selected as the first batch of national demonstration vocational education groups. 15 high-level industry-education integration projects such as the China Measurement and Testing Engineering Center and the Hebei Cloud Environment Testing Center have been built. The school actively carries out technical services for industry enterprises, and has built 1 provincial key laboratory, 2 national application technology collaborative innovation centers, 1 national virtual simulation training base, 4 technology innovation centers recognized by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, 1 engineering research center recognized by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and 3 application technology research and development centers recognized by the Provincial Department of Education. Focusing on the transformation and upgrading of the steel industry, it has solved technical problems such as furnace opening and process optimization for steel companies such as Hesteel, provided more than 300 production technology services for the green development of Hebei's steel industry, and won 1 first prize and 4 third prizes in the provincial science and technology progress. Actively provide talent support, technical support and training services for enterprise development, forming a "menu-optional" vocational training brand, and training more than 410,000 employees per day. The school cooperates with Hebei University for the Aged to run schools, becoming the first higher vocational college in the country to carry out elderly education, and has carried out more than 680,000 public welfare training days. The school vigorously carries out innovation and entrepreneurship education, and has built a national-level makerspace and Hebei Entrepreneurship University. The student team won the silver medal of the "Internet +" National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the gold medal of the "Challenge Cup" National College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition and many other national awards. The employment rate of school graduates has remained stable at over 98% for many years. The school has continuously increased its opening-up efforts and its international influence has continued to increase. Since 2017, it has recruited students with academic qualifications. In 2018, it established an overseas internship and training base at Hesteel Group Serbia Company and co-built two "Yanzhao Silk Road Colleges" in Thailand and Pakistan. It has successively carried out Sino-foreign cooperative education projects with Australia, the United States, Russia and South Korea. It has held "Chinese + Vocational Skills" training for countries participating in the "Belt and Road" initiative. In July 2020, the school was selected into the third batch of "China-ASEAN Vocational College Characteristic Cooperation Project" by the China Education International Exchange Association of the Ministry of Education.
