Hubei Police College is a provincial public security undergraduate college in Hubei Province. Its history began with the establishment of the cadre training class of the Public Security Department of the Hubei Provincial People's Government in July 1949. Afterwards, it went through the development stages of the Public Security School of the Public Security Department of the Hubei Provincial People's Government, the Wuhan Branch of the Central People's Public Security College, the Second Central Police Cadre School, the Hubei Provincial Public Security School, and the Hubei Provincial People's Police School. In April 1984, the Hubei Provincial Public Security College was established to officially carry out public security higher education; in June 1993, the school name was adjusted to Hubei Public Security College. In May 2002, the school took the lead in carrying out public security undergraduate education among provincial public security colleges across the country and was renamed Hubei Police College. Since its establishment, Hubei Police College has trained more than 150,000 business backbones and specialized talents for political and legal public security organs and other industries. Alumni are spread all over the country, and a large number of heroes, models and advanced figures have emerged. Many alumni have worked diligently and silently in ordinary positions, making important contributions to my country's socialist cause and modernization. The college currently has two campuses, the South Campus of Jiefang Avenue in Wuhan and the North Campus of Nanniwan Avenue, with a campus area of 512 acres. There are 25 middle-level direct institutions in the college. There are more than 6,000 full-time undergraduate students. There are 436 faculty members, including more than 130 full and associate professors, and more than 200 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees. More than 10 teachers have been rated as "National Excellent Teachers" and provincial and ministerial "Teaching Masters", "Advanced Teachers", "Excellent Teachers", "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions in Hubei Province", "Young and Middle-aged Jurists in Hubei Province", etc. Many teachers have been selected into the Young Teachers Funding Program of the Ministry of Education and enjoy special government subsidies from the State Council. The college attaches great importance to the construction of disciplines and majors, and has established a discipline system based on law, with public security and public security technology as the main body, and computer science and technology as the support. The professional construction is based on "Public Security" and "Public Security Technology" majors, strengthening the integration and coordination of "Law", "Computer Science and Technology" majors and public security majors, highlighting the professional characteristics of the college. There are 12 undergraduate majors, including public security majors: public security, investigation, economic crime investigation, criminal science and technology, police command and tactics, network security and law enforcement, foreign police, traffic management engineering, etc.; general majors include: law, computer science and technology, information security, English, etc. The college actively integrates into the "Double First-Class" construction, implements the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for first-class undergraduate majors and the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" for first-class undergraduate courses. There are two provincial-level advantageous and characteristic disciplines (groups) of public security and rule of law in Hubei and public security technology, two national-level first-class undergraduate major construction points such as criminal science and technology and investigation, and four provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction points such as public security, network security and law enforcement, police command and tactics, and information security; 33 courses such as crime scene investigation were selected as provincial-level first-class undergraduate courses. 10 teaching teams including investigation, criminal science and technology, public security, information security, international policing, ideological and political courses, police tactics, criminal procedure law, foreign police, and traffic management engineering were rated as provincial-level teaching teams. The "Hubei Famous Teacher Studio", "Chutian Scholar Studio" and "Yu Xinmin Studio" of Constitutional Law and Administrative Law (Public Security Legal System Direction) have been established. The Ministry of Education has completed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching in 2020. The college actively promotes the construction of undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform projects, and builds a talent training model with the characteristics of modern police education. The college attaches great importance to the ideological and political education of college students, and actively builds a "three-all" education work system of educating all staff, educating throughout the process, and educating in all aspects. The training modules such as daily police management, course teaching and training, experimental teaching, professional training internship, social practice, general education, campus cultural activities, and college student scientific research innovation competitions are diverse in form and rich in content. A group of teachers have won the National Teaching Achievement Award and the Ministry of Public Security Science and Technology Progress Award. Teachers and students have repeatedly ranked among the top in important competitions such as the "Blue Hat Cup" and "Meiya Cup" China Electronic Data Forensics Competition, the Public Security College Teaching Skills Competition, the College Student Science and Technology Application Innovation Competition, and the National Security Quality Exhibition Activities of Colleges and Universities. Students have repeatedly achieved good results in participating in the legal professional qualification examination. In the past three years, the pass rate of the examination has been as high as 70%, maintaining the forefront of the law majors of major colleges and universities. The college has vigorously strengthened scientific research, guided teachers to actively undertake various scientific research projects, provided think tank services for public security work, and formed a number of influential scientific research results. It has established important scientific research platforms such as the Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center for Electronic Data Forensics and the Social Security Governance Research Center of the Hubei Provincial Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences. College teachers have published more than 300 academic papers in authoritative journals such as "China Legal Science" and "Legal Research", and presided over or undertaken more than 400 national and provincial scientific research projects such as the National Social Science Fund, the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Research Base Major Research Projects, and the Ministry of Education Funding for Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Teachers Fund Projects. It has won many national and provincial teaching and scientific research awards such as the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements (Humanities and Social Sciences) Award for Higher Education Institutions and the Ministry of Justice's "National Legal Research and Textbook" Award. In recent years, it has obtained more than 50 national patents. The college attaches great importance to the construction of book and document resources, has built a smart campus, and realized the interconnection and sharing of data from major systems. The college conscientiously implements the practical education project, and has built a number of practical education and innovation research bases, including the Criminal Science and Technology Training Center, the Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the Provincial College Student Innovation Activity Base, the "Three Truths" Judicial Appraisal Center, the DNA Professional Laboratory, the Physical Evidence Traceability Technology Research Institute, the Anti-drug Technology and Intelligence Research Center, and the Public Security Big Data Intelligence Analysis Laboratory. It is the "National First County (City) Public Security Bureau Chief and Political Commissar Post Training Base", "Foreign Police Training Base", "Hubei Provincial Political and Legal Cadre Education and Training Center", "Hubei Provincial Public Security Bureau Chief (Political Commissar) Training Base", and "New Era Hubei Public Security Station Chief School", with an average of more than 10,000 people trained annually.
