Nanjing Police College is an undergraduate college directly under the Ministry of Public Security. The predecessor of the college was the Nanjing Municipal Agricultural Vocational School, which was newly established in May 1949, and its history can be traced back to 1941. In August 1953, it was renamed Jiangsu Nanjing Forestry School. In September 1994, it was rebuilt into the Nanjing People's Police School of the Ministry of Forestry. In March 2000, it was upgraded to Nanjing Forest Police College. In March 2010, it was upgraded to Nanjing Forest Police College and began to offer full-time general undergraduate education. In December 2018, it was transferred from the State Forestry and Grassland Administration to the leadership and management of the Ministry of Public Security. In June 2022, the Nanjing Police Dog Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security was incorporated into the college. In February 2023, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Nanjing Police College. The college is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, covering a total area of 1,346 acres and a construction area of 235,800 square meters. It has three campuses: Xianlin, Huayuan Road, and Andemen. Its main campus is located in Xianlin University Town, Qixia District, Nanjing. The college closely focuses on the new situation, new tasks and new needs of the public security organs in the new era to maintain national political security and social stability, implements the general requirements of "loyalty to the party, serving the people, fair law enforcement, and strict discipline", firmly grasps the fundamental political attributes of "the public security belongs to the party", implements the fundamental tasks of establishing morality and cultivating people, educating police and casting souls, adheres to political construction and strict management of the school, takes serving the public security cause as the highest pursuit, takes discipline construction as the foundation of development, takes deepening reform as a powerful driving force, takes strengthening party building as a strong guarantee, takes improving governance capabilities as an important guarantee, comprehensively strengthens connotation construction, and deeply promotes transformation and development, and strives to build a multi-disciplinary coordinated development and distinctive discipline and professional pattern. There are 6,225 students on campus, with 10 public security undergraduate majors including public security, investigation, criminal science and technology, public security management, network security and law enforcement, public security intelligence, police command and tactics, food, drug and environmental crime investigation technology, data police technology, and police dog technology. It carries out order-based talent training for three police types including customs anti-smuggling, civil aviation police, and Changhang public security, of which there are 7 national first-class undergraduate major construction points. The college currently has 505 faculty members, including 50 with senior professional titles and 177 with associate senior professional titles; 367 full-time teachers, including 101 with doctoral degrees and 223 with master's degrees. Their research directions are distributed in the fields of law, public security, public security technology, forestry, pharmacy, food science, botany, zoology, etc. There are 2 experts with ministerial allowances from the Ministry of Public Security, 9 outstanding teachers in the national public security system, 4 provincial and ministerial teaching masters, 1 national expert in criminal technology, 1 advanced individual in national public security science and technology, 13 young criminal technology talents in the national public security organs, 5 provincial and ministerial candidates for the "Million Talents Project", 11 third-level training targets of Jiangsu Province's "333 Project", 4 excellent teaching teams of Jiangsu Province's "Qinglan Project", 10 young and middle-aged academic leaders of Jiangsu Province's "Qinglan Project", 34 outstanding young backbone teachers of Jiangsu Province's "Qinglan Project", and 2 high-level talents of the "Six Talent Peaks". The college adheres to its position as a talent training center and continues to deepen education and teaching reforms. It has won 2 second prizes for national teaching achievements, 13 provincial (ministerial) teaching achievement awards, 3 national first-class courses, 1 national ideological and political demonstration course, 1 national excellent textbook, 2 virtual teaching and research rooms of the Ministry of Education, 3 new liberal arts research and reform practice projects of the Ministry of Education, and 1 quality ideological and political work project of the Ministry of Education. The college insists on actively serving national strategies and public security work, and constantly improves the level of scientific research innovation and application services. There are 13 provincial and ministerial platforms such as the Food and Drug Crime Research Center, the "Eco-Environmental Law Research Center", a key research base of Jiangsu Province's philosophy and social sciences, and the "Police Dog Technology" key laboratory of the Ministry of Public Security. In the past five years, it has undertaken 675 scientific research projects, including 29 national projects such as the National Social Science Fund and the National Natural Science Foundation, and 179 provincial and ministerial projects; published 36 academic works and authorized 299 patents. In the past five years, a total of 129 groups and 218 individuals of the college's teachers and students have received various commendations at the provincial level or above; a large number of advanced models have emerged among the students, such as "China's University Student Self-improvement Star", "Jiangsu University Student of the Year", and "Lei Feng-style Good Student Police".
