Overview of the College Shanxi Police College was formerly the Shanxi Provincial Public Security School established in 1949, the Shanxi Provincial People's Police School was established in 1981, and the Shanxi Police College was established in March 2000 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In March 2016, the Ministry of Education approved the Shanxi Police College to be upgraded to an undergraduate-level general college and renamed it Shanxi Police College. The college was added as a bachelor's degree-granting institution in May 2020. At present, it has built the "Public Safety Education and Training Base for Explosives of the Ministry of Public Security", "Cultural and Museum Talent Training Demonstration Base of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage", "National Public Security Police Psychological Training Shanxi Experimental Center" and "Shanxi Public Security Police Training Base". The college is a general college established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China and organized by the Shanxi Provincial People's Government. The competent department is the Shanxi Provincial Public Security Department, and it accepts the business guidance and management of the Shanxi Provincial Department of Education. The college has 35 internal institutions, including 18 party and government management institutions (including mass organizations), 12 teaching and research institutions, and 5 teaching auxiliary institutions. The college currently has 3 campuses, covering an area of 884.58 acres, a total construction area of 288,000 square meters, 110,100 square meters of teaching and administrative buildings, and a total value of 50.05 million yuan in teaching and research equipment. The library has a construction area of 14,000 square meters and 800,000 paper books. There are 83 on-campus experimental training sites, and a total of 60 combat and education integration bases, teaching bases, and practice bases throughout the province. The college currently has 482 faculty and staff, including 288 full-time teachers, including 14 professors, 87 associate professors, 30 doctoral students, 198 master's degree students, and 5,452 full-time undergraduate students. The public security technology discipline of the college is a featured discipline of the "1331 Project" of Shanxi Province, and the public security discipline is a quality improvement and efficiency construction project of the "1331 Project". There are 11 public security majors including investigation, public security, public security management, traffic management engineering, network security and law enforcement, criminal science and technology, police command and tactics, drug control, economic crime investigation, public security audio-visual technology, and public security intelligence, and 4 non-public security majors including information security, law, emergency management, and social work. Among them, the major of network security and law enforcement is a national first-class professional construction point, and the five majors of investigation, public security, criminal science and technology, public security management, and traffic management engineering are provincial first-class professional construction points. There are 17 provincial first-class certification, construction, and cultivation courses, and 30 practical quality courses in the public security system of Shanxi Province. The college attaches great importance to the exploration of the law of cultivating applied undergraduate talents in the public security industry, closely follows the talent training model of "integration of teaching, training and combat", adheres to the school motto of "loyalty, justice, virtue and erudition", and through long-term practice, gradually condenses the educational and teaching concept of "cultivating both morality and law, combining specialization and erudition, combining learning and combat, and drip irrigation and cultivation" with the characteristics of Shanxi public security education. In talent training, it emphasizes loyalty education, pays more attention to practical teaching, and promotes three-dimensional education. The college's school-running has always resonated with the public security work of Shanxi. It is based in Shanxi and serves the modernization of public security work. Generations of police academy people keep in mind the mission of educating people for the party, cultivating talents for the country, and forging swords for the police. They take root in Shanxi and contribute to Shanxi, cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. Since 1979, more than 60,000 specialized talents have been trained for Shanxi public security and political and legal organs, and more than 100,000 on-duty police officers have been trained.
