History: Wuhan Business School traces its origins back to Wuhan Service School founded in 1963, with a 60-year history. In 1985, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, Wuhan Business School of Service was established at the junior college level. In 2004, with the approval of the Hubei Provincial People's Government, Wuhan Economic Management Cadre College, Wuhan Workers' Finance and Economics College and Wuhan Workers' University were merged into Wuhan Business School of Service. In 2013, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Wuhan Business School of the undergraduate level was established on the basis of Wuhan Business School of Service, which is under the jurisdiction of the Hubei Provincial People's Government and sponsored by the Wuhan Municipal People's Government, and its education and teaching business is under the management of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. Basic conditions: The school's existing Houguanhu campus covers an area of 1,004 acres, the Mo Shuihu campus covers an area of 32 acres, and the Mayinghe new campus under construction covers an area of 280 acres. It has a collection of 1.695 million paper books and 650,000 electronic books. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 210 million yuan. Faculty: The school has 1,104 faculty and staff, including 704 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 272 have senior professional titles, accounting for 38.64%; 172 have doctoral degrees, accounting for 24.43%; and 421 have master's degrees, accounting for 59.8%. There are 2 experts who enjoy special government allowances from the State Council, 13 experts who enjoy special allowances from provincial and municipal governments, 1 member of the Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, 5 Chinese registered cooking masters (famous teachers), 1 Hubei Provincial Famous Teacher Studio, and 1 Hubei Provincial Worker (Model Worker) Innovation Studio. Talent training: The school has 14,050 full-time students, including 12,754 undergraduates and 1,296 junior college students. There are 13 teaching colleges, 40 undergraduate majors and 2 professional directions, covering management, economics, engineering, education, literature, art, science, agriculture and other disciplines. It has 3 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites (hotel management, leisure sports, cooking and nutrition education), 7 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites (software engineering, leisure sports, cooking and nutrition education, sports economics and management, architectural environment and energy application engineering, logistics management, animation), 3 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 4 provincial strategic emerging (pillar) industry talent training plan majors. It has been approved for 3 national first-class courses, 24 provincial first-class courses, 1 provincial pilot college, 6 provincial teaching teams, 2 provincial internship training bases, 1 provincial key experimental teaching demonstration center, and 3 provincial quality resource sharing courses. The Xinchuang Artificial Intelligence Industry College was established. The school won 4 teaching achievement awards at the 9th Hubei Higher Education Institutions, including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 1 third prize. In the past three years, students have won about 2,900 provincial and above awards in various subject competitions. In 2021, the school successfully passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education, and is currently preparing for the review and assessment of undergraduate education and teaching. Scientific research: The school is the president unit of the Wuhan Society of Commercial Economics and the president unit of the Wuhan Equestrian Association. There are 36 scientific research institutions (platforms) such as the Wuhan Tourism Research Institute, the Wuhan Horse Industry Research Institute, and the Hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center. The Hubei Engineering Research Center for Sports Horse Testing and Application Transformation, which was approved, is the school's first provincial and ministerial discipline construction platform. It has been approved for 1 National Social Science Fund project, 5 National Self-Science Fund projects, 2 key projects of the Ministry of Education of the National Education and Science Planning Project, 10 humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education, and 14 major research project funds of the Provincial Party Committee. Actively connect with the needs of government, industry and enterprises, and undertake more than 300 horizontal projects. Won more than 130 scientific research awards at or above the municipal level. Presided over the formulation (revision) of six standards, including "Standards for the Use of Wooden Pallets in Cold Chain Logistics", "Service Specifications for Industrial Tourism Scenic Spots (Attractions) in Wuhan", and "Technical Standards for Chinese Speed Horse Racing Events", and took the lead in formulating the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Chinese Equestrianism and Chinese Dragon Boat Sports" and "Three-Year Action Plan for the Development of Wuhan Horse Industry". International Cooperation: The school has established friendly cooperative relations with 71 overseas universities or institutions, and has cooperated with Essen University of Applied Sciences and Management and North Hessen University of Applied Sciences in Germany to organize three Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, with nearly 600 students currently. In the past six years, the school has sponsored 179 teachers to go abroad for academic exchanges, international conferences or training programs, 314 undergraduate students went abroad for further studies, and a total of 108 foreign teachers and students came to the school for exchanges.
