Xinjiang Institute of Science and Technology is a full-time general undergraduate college, directly managed by the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and is located in Korla City, Xinjiang, which is known as the "Pearl of the Great Wall and the City of Mountains and Waters". The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of "characteristics, openness, tolerance, pragmatism, and innovation", closely follows the talent needs of high-quality development of regional economy and society, and strives to create "three major trunk disciplines and professional clusters" of finance, engineering, and medicine, deepen the construction of "excellent liberal arts, expanded engineering, and prosperous medicine", and form a characteristic discipline and professional layout of "combining engineering and management, combining medical management, and combining medicine and engineering" with multidisciplinary cross-integration. The school was founded in 2002. Over the past 20 years, it has continuously trained 18 undergraduate graduates and provided a large number of high-quality talents for the economic and social development of Xinjiang. At present, the school has 15,400 full-time undergraduate and junior college students, 1,055 faculty and staff, 62 full-time professors, 46 associate professors, and 298 lecturers; 91.54% of full-time teachers have a master's degree or above. The school has two campuses, East and West, with a total area of 2,838.28 acres and a building area of 563,700 square meters. Among them, the East Campus is located at No. 360, Jinhe Road, Korla Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 1,986.44 acres and a building area of 209,200 square meters; the West Campus is located at No. 89, Beijing Road, Hongyan New District, Korla City, covering an area of 851.84 acres and a building area of 354,500 square meters. The school currently offers finance, accounting, financial management, engineering auditing, medical insurance, international economics and trade, tourism management, marketing, human resource management, taxation, e-commerce, law, journalism, chemical engineering and technology, textile engineering, light chemical engineering, computer science and technology, information security, pharmacy, nursing, rehabilitation therapy, software engineering, medical information engineering, digital media technology, Internet of Things Engineering, Fine Chemicals, Nonwoven Materials and Engineering, Chinese Medicine Resources and Development, Elderly Care Service Management and other 29 undergraduate majors (of which Internet of Things Engineering, Fine Chemicals, Nonwoven Materials and Engineering, Chinese Medicine Resources and Development, and Elderly Care Service Management are new majors approved by the Ministry of Education in 2024), covering 6 disciplines including economics, management, engineering, medicine, literature, and law. It has 2 national first-class undergraduate major construction points in accounting and financial management, 2 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points in finance and human resource management, and 6 provincial first-class courses including "Finance", "E-commerce Operation Practice", "Tourism Route Design and Practice", "Organizational Behavior", "News Interview and Writing", and "Virtual Simulation Experiment of Acute Pulmonary Edema Based on Curriculum Integration". The continuing education has 9 majors, including accounting, financial management, finance, human resource management, law, computer science and technology, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapy, and nursing. The school actively promotes the construction of teaching and research platforms. There are currently platforms and centers such as the "Institute of Chinese National Community Consciousness", "Cultural Runjiang Research Center", "Functional Fiber Materials Research Center", and "Malan Spirit Education and Research Center". Among them, the "New Business and Industry-Education Integration Research Center" was approved to cultivate the autonomous region's key research base for humanities and social sciences, and the "Digital Economy and Management Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center" and "Health Care Professional Cluster Experimental Teaching Center" were approved as autonomous region experimental teaching demonstration centers. The school has 11 teaching institutions, including the School of Accounting, the School of Economics, the School of Business Administration, the School of Culture and Media, the School of Chemical Engineering and Textile Engineering, the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Medicine, the Basic Teaching Research Department, the School of Marxism, the Department of Physical Education Teaching Research, and the School of Continuing Education, and 17 party and government management and teaching assistance institutions. As a backbone unit of the national industry-education integration pilot city construction alliance, it has established long-term cooperative relations with more than 180 units such as government, enterprises, industries, and schools, improved the collaborative education mechanism, and continuously improved the practical ability of teachers and students.
