Xijing University is located in the ancient city of Xi'an. It is a provincial ordinary private undergraduate university, a "first-class college" construction unit in Shaanxi Province, a "civilized campus in Shaanxi Province" and a "safe campus". The school was founded in 1994, approved as an ordinary undergraduate university in 2005, and obtained the right to award bachelor's degrees in 2009. In 2010, it passed the undergraduate qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education as the first private university in the country. In 2011, it was approved to become a "national special needs talent training project"-a bachelor's degree awarding unit to carry out the training of master's professional degree graduate students. Pilot units, passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2017, and was established as a "first-class college" construction unit by Shaanxi Province in 2018. In October 2021, the school was officially approved as a master's degree awarding unit with the approval of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee. The school closely focuses on the local and application-oriented school-running positioning, actively adapts to the needs of local economic and social development, adheres to the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity and the OBE education concept, and aims to cultivate first-line engineers or industry application-oriented innovative talents with sound personality, solid basic knowledge, strong professional practice ability, courage to innovate, and "craftsmanship + artistic literacy". It has 13 teaching units and 6 professional master's programs such as machinery, electronic information, civil engineering and water conservancy, auditing, fine arts and calligraphy, and design, and 39 undergraduate majors, covering 6 disciplines of engineering, management, art, science, literature, and economics. The school continues to promote the professional development plan centered on the construction of "three major professional groups", namely the engineering professional group driven by intelligent manufacturing, the economic management professional group led by auditing and accounting, and the modern art design centered on visual communication design. The reform of new engineering, new liberal arts, and new medical teaching and the reform of the "four ones" graduate talent training model have achieved remarkable results. The school adheres to the five-pronged approach, implements the student ideological and political education system of "five modules, five platforms and three mechanisms", establishes a college education system of "professional +, general education +, one college, one product, social practice" led by comprehensive quality education, implements the whole process of career education guidance, full coverage of employment guidance services and full employment assistance support, comprehensively promotes students to become adults and improves the quality of talent training. It has successively won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Collective of the Education System", "National University with Typical Experience in Innovation and Entrepreneurship", "University with Typical Experience in Employment of Graduates of the Ministry of Education", "National Demonstration Center for Mental Health Education and Consultation in Colleges and Universities", "National Demonstration Base for Social Practice", and "National May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Committee". With the goal of broadening students' international vision and improving multicultural literacy, the school actively carries out international cooperation and exchanges. It has established cooperative and exchange relations with universities in more than 10 countries such as Singapore, South Korea, France, and the United States, as well as universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and has carried out diversified exchange projects such as short-term visiting studies, semester exchanges, junior college to undergraduate, undergraduate to master's degree and overseas paid internships. In 2016, the Singapore Hanqiao College overseas school base was established. The school cooperated with the University of Suffolk in the UK to open undergraduate and master's programs, and integrated Singapore's high-quality resources to create an overseas learning and training platform for teachers and students. In 2023, the International Education College was established to carry out the training of international students, forming a multi-channel and multi-level international exchange and cooperation pattern.
