Chengdu Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college organized by the Chengdu Municipal People's Government. It is a national "double high plan" construction school, a national (demonstration) backbone higher vocational college, a national high-quality higher vocational college, a national demonstration school for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and a high-level higher vocational school A-level construction unit in Sichuan Province. The school was founded in April 2003 and was formed by the merger and upgrading of the former Chengdu Xinhua Vocational Middle School and Chengdu Tourism Vocational School. In 2006, the former Chengdu Real Estate Secondary Vocational School was merged into the school. The school adheres to the school-running idea of "schools are run around industries, majors are built around industries, and teaching practice is integrated into enterprise production lines", and strives to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents mainly in the modern service industry. The school currently has two campuses, Gaoxin and Xinjin, covering an area of 530 acres. In April 2022, the municipal party committee and government decided to develop a new campus in Xinjin District. The new campus of the school is located in Guanlin Street, Huayuan Street, Xinjin District, with a total area of 800 acres. The campus is planned as a whole and built in phases. The total planned area of the first and second phases is about 340,000 square meters, with a total investment of about 3.2 billion yuan. After completion, it will be able to accommodate more than 10,000 students. The school currently has more than 700 faculty and staff, of which 46% are teachers with senior professional titles, 76% are teachers with doctoral and master degrees, and more than 90% are teachers with dual qualifications. There are more than 50 talents such as national high-level talents, national advanced individuals in vocational education, national technical experts, national teaching masters, Sichuan teaching masters, Chengdu excellent teachers, Chengdu subject leaders, and Chengdu craftsmen. The school currently has more than 12,000 full-time students. It has 9 secondary colleges including the School of Software, School of Finance and Economics, School of Culture and Tourism, School of Medical Care, School of Urban Construction, School of International Business and Trade, School of General Education (School of Chess Art), School of Marxism, and School of International Education. There are 39 majors, of which software engineering, tourism management, financial technology, and integrated circuit design and integrated system are pilot majors for undergraduate vocational education talent training reform. The tourism management and financial technology application majors are selected as high-level professional groups in Sichuan Province.
