Wuchang Shouyi College is a full-time general undergraduate institution of higher learning. Its predecessor was the Wuchang Branch of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. It is one of the first independent colleges in China. In August 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan Junwei Cultural Communication Group jointly established Huazhong University of Science and Technology Junwei College. In March of the following year, it was renamed Huazhong University of Science and Technology Wuchang Branch. In May 2015, it was transferred to its current name. In 2023, the school successfully passed the Ministry of Education’s undergraduate teaching qualification assessment.
