Chengdu Aeronautical Vocational and Technical College (abbreviated as: Chengdu Aviation College or Chenghang, CAP) was founded in 1965 at the beginning of the "Third Line Construction". It is one of the ten aviation colleges directly under the former Ministry of Aviation Industry. It is now a public full-time general college organized by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and directly under the Education Department. The school is one of the first batch of higher vocational colleges in the country (one of 14), the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges (one of 28), the national "Double High Plan" construction unit, the first batch of directional training schools for sergeants of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the national high-skilled talent training base, the aviation industry high-skilled talent training base, the China Aerospace Development High-skilled Talent Training Base, and the Ministry of Education Vocational College Principal Training Base (one of the five in the country and the only one in the west).
