Sanjiang University is located in Nanjing, the historical and cultural city of the "Ancient Capital of Six Dynasties". It is a provincial general undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education of China. It is the first private undergraduate general university in Jiangsu Province and one of the four earliest private undergraduate universities in China. The origin of the name of Sanjiang University can be traced back to Sanjiang Normal School in 1902 (the predecessor of Southeast University, Nanjing University and other universities). In March 1992, Tao Yongde and Qi Huanlin of Southeast University, Ding Chengxian of Nanjing University, and Xie Mingcai of Nanjing Staff University, four retired and retiring professors and education management cadres, initiated and founded Sanjiang University. In June 1993, the Jiangsu Provincial Government agreed to the preparation and trial enrollment of Sanjiang University. In April 1995, it was officially established with the approval of the former State Education Commission. In 1999, the school was located in Tiexinqiao, Yuhuatai District. In February 2002, it was upgraded to an undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China and named Sanjiang University. In May 2006, it passed the evaluation of the bachelor's degree awarding authority in Jiangsu Province. In May 2007, the school became the first private undergraduate college in the country to accept the undergraduate teaching work level assessment of ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education. In March 2008, it passed the undergraduate teaching work level assessment of ordinary colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education with good results. In 2011, the school became a pilot university of the Jiangsu Province Higher Education Comprehensive Reform Experimental Zone and the Jiangsu Province "Establishing a Modern University System" project. In 2014, it became the vice chairman unit of the National Alliance of Applied Technology Universities. In 2017, the school was approved as a construction unit for the master's degree awarding project in Jiangsu Province. In 2018, the school was registered as a public institution in the provincial establishment department. In 2018, the school passed the undergraduate teaching work review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education. When Sanjiang College was founded, it established a leadership and management system under the leadership of the board of directors with the principal responsible system. Professor Qian Zhonghan, former president of Nanjing Institute of Technology, served as the first chairman, and Professor Kuang Yaming, former president of Nanjing University, served as the honorary president. He personally wrote the school motto of "seeking truth from facts, pioneering and innovating", and Professor Tao Yongde of Southeast University served as the first president. In 2003, according to the spirit of the "Law on the Promotion of Private Education", the school was reorganized into a board of directors based on the original board of directors. Professor Chen Wannian, a representative of the 9th National People's Congress, former director of the Jiangsu Provincial Education Commission, and secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University, served as chairman, president, and party secretary. Ms. Chen Xiangmei, a famous social activist and Chinese American, served as honorary chairman of the school. Dr. Li Changyu, a world-renowned detective and Chinese American, served as honorary professor of the school. The current party secretary of the school is Professor Feng Chaonian, and the president is Professor Wu Zhongjiang. When Professor Qian Zhonghan founded the school, he wrote: "The music never stops, the sea of learning is boundless, the benefits are bestowed on Sanjiang, and the ambition is to revive China." It can be said that "the descendants of Sanjiang run Sanjiang". In order to realize the popularization of higher education and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the descendants of Sanjiang shoulder the historical responsibility. In the 32-year history of running schools, Sanjiang College has carried forward the fine traditions of "frugality, diligence, and honesty" of Sanjiang Normal School, adhered to the school-running policy of "establishing morality and cultivating people, taking students as the basis, combining learning with practice, and serving the society", and took "seeking truth from facts, pioneering and innovating" as the school motto, and "rigorous, diligent, self-reliant, and harmonious" as the school spirit. Always adhere to the socialist school-running direction of "four services" unswervingly, always adhere to the public welfare and non-profit school-running purpose unswervingly, always adhere to the local and applied university school-running orientation unswervingly, always adhere to the school-running path of comprehensive opening and coordinated development unswervingly, strengthen connotation construction, continue to reform and innovate, and develop various undertakings in a long-term manner. In recent years, the school has closely connected with the economic and social development needs of Jiangsu Province, optimized the professional layout, strengthened the faculty, deepened the teaching reform, refined the quality management, and continuously improved the school-running level, and strived to build Sanjiang College into a high-level applied private university that meets the requirements of the times, is successful in education, full of happiness, indispensable to the local area, and has distinctive characteristics. The university currently has four campuses: Tiexinqiao Main Campus, East Campus, South Campus, and Dongshan Campus. The Tiexinqiao Main Campus is located on the banks of the New Qinhuai River at the foot of Niu Shou Mountain in Yuhuatai District, south of Nanjing City, between two rivers and three mountains. "Looking south to Niu Shou, east to Fangshan, and north to Zijin", "The great river is majestic, and the Qinhuai River is clear" (all selected from the poem "Remembering Jiangnan" written by Luo Jialun, the former president of Central University). The European-style school buildings are elegant and magnificent, blending with the green mountains and green waters, with a greening rate of 70%. The four campuses cover a total area of 1,002.73 acres, with a school building area of 392,700 square meters, 187,000 square meters of teaching and administrative rooms, and 164,300 square meters of student dormitories. The gigabit fiber-optic campus network covers the entire campus, and the library has a collection of more than 3.9 million books. The school currently has more than 21,600 full-time undergraduate students, 12 secondary colleges, and 55 undergraduate majors. Guided by the principle of "strengthening advantageous majors, transforming traditional majors, and cultivating emerging majors", the school has formed six professional clusters that are closely connected with the pillar industries and new industries of Jiangsu Province, and has built a discipline and professional layout with coordinated development of engineering, literature, management, economics, law, art, and science. At present, it has 1 national comprehensive reform pilot major, 3 national first-class professional construction sites, 2 first-phase projects of Jiangsu Province's college brand professional construction project, 2 provincial industry-education integration brand professional construction sites, 1 cultivation site, 1 provincial industry-education integration key base, 14 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 1 provincial excellent engineer (software) education and training program pilot major, and 1 provincial excellent engineer education and training program 2.0 major. The school adheres to the strategy of strengthening the school with talents, makes full use of the resource advantages of "famous schools and strong cities" and the private mechanism, and implements the construction policy of "actively introducing, focusing on training, hiring the best, and gradually strengthening". 62.6% of the teachers have middle and senior professional titles, 92.9% of the teachers have master's and doctoral degrees, and 36.4%. There are 6 teachers enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 77 teachers selected for provincial talent projects, and professional leaders have senior professional titles. The school has always attached great importance to the construction of scientific research platforms. In the past three years, more than 150 national and provincial and ministerial scientific research projects have been added, of which 4 national social science fund projects have been approved. In 2023, it was approved as a provincial engineering research center-Jiangsu Low-carbon Materials and Green Structure Engineering Research Center. The school implements comprehensive reforms and condenses training characteristics. The school attaches great importance to students' innovation and entrepreneurship education, establishes the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, builds a "555" innovation and entrepreneurship education system, opens a "basic + module" innovation and entrepreneurship course system, and forms an innovation and entrepreneurship work system with innovation and entrepreneurship competition as the core and innovation and entrepreneurship project training and entrepreneurial project incubation as the support. Through the construction of five major platforms, including the dual innovation competition platform, the dual innovation activity exchange platform, the dual innovation education practice platform, the dual innovation teaching resource platform, and the mass innovation service platform, we have promoted the implementation of the "five one" projects, including one competition for one life, one project for one life, one certificate for one life, one lesson for one life, and one teacher for one life. The school focuses on school-enterprise collaboration and building a practice platform. The university has built nearly 20 special laboratories (experimental centers) with Siemens (China) Co., Ltd., Estun Automation Co., Ltd., Phoenix Contact (China) Co., Ltd., Nanjing Hanhai Enterprise Management Consulting Co., Ltd. and other companies, 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students, 1 provincial key base construction site for industry-education integration, and more than 300 off-campus internship and training bases. The school has 5 provincial experimental teaching and practical education centers and nearly 300 laboratories. The resource conditions for school-enterprise co-construction and collaborative education have basically been formed. The school vigorously promotes international exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields and channels, and continuously improves the level of international cooperation and exchanges. It has established long-term cooperative relations with universities in many countries and the Macao Special Administrative Region, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, etc. In recent years, the school has cooperated with universities such as the New York Film Academy, Purdue University, the University of Huddersfield, De Montfort University, Lincoln University, Coventry University, Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, University of Adelaide, Aichi Bunkyo University, Jeonju University, Naresuan University, and Macau University of Science and Technology to carry out inter-school exchanges and hold joint undergraduate and master's degree training programs. In 2019, our school became a member of the "Thailand-China Education Alliance" and actively expanded cooperation with countries and regions along the "Belt and Road". The school has long hired foreign teachers from the United States, Britain, Japan, South Korea and other countries to teach. In 2020, the school was approved to build the "Jiangsu Foreign Experts Studio", which has built a broad platform for the school to introduce excellent foreign human resources. In 2021, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office helped our school's financial management major to obtain the first batch of key projects for the construction of Jiangsu Province's "14th Five-Year Plan" international talent training brand majors. The quality of talent training in the school continues to improve. In recent years, the school's employment rate has remained stable at around 95%. Since 2021, it has been rated as "A-level college for quantitative supervision of employment of college graduates" in the province. It is both easy to use and durable, which is the general evaluation of our graduates by employers. Since its establishment, the school has supplied more than 100,000 high-quality talents in production, management, and service to the society. Sanjiang College has a variety of scholarships, including freshman scholarships, academic year scholarships, scholarships for outstanding poor students, national scholarships, national inspirational scholarships, and national grants, to reward students with good character and academic performance. Some colleges also have corporate scholarships to reward outstanding students and outstanding poor students. Students from families with financial difficulties can apply for national student loans and participate in work-study activities organized by the school while at school. In 2022 and 2023, our school was rated as "Excellent College for Student Aid Performance in Jiangsu Province" for consecutive years.
