Xi'an Jiaotong Engineering University is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education of China. It was founded in 1994 and is the only general undergraduate college in Shaanxi Province that focuses on rail transit majors. The school is located on the east bank of Meibei Lake in Huyi District, Xi'an, which is the "best place for mountains and waters in Guanzhong", the famous scenic spot of Shanglin Garden in Qin and Han Dynasties and Chang'an, the capital of Tang Dynasty. It currently has Huyi Campus, East Campus and Tanbin Science and Technology Innovation Park. The campus environment is elegant and the school conditions are excellent. It has modern teaching buildings, libraries, laboratories, cultural and sports centers, etc. In accordance with the current national railway operation standards, a 425-meter rail transit comprehensive practice base integrating electrified railway lines and supporting electric rail vehicles, communication signal systems, traction substations and stations, as well as professional teaching experimental training bases such as the "Rail Transit Signal Interlocking Training Base" have been built; in the first batch of 30 universities in the country jointly built by the Ministry of Education and ZTE, it is the only university in Shaanxi that has signed a contract for the construction of a base. There are teaching units such as the School of Transportation, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the ZTE College, the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Humanities and Management, the School of Marxism, and the Department of Public Courses, with more than 10,000 students. The school is a standing director unit of the China Transportation Education Research Association, a director unit of the Party Building Professional Committee of the China Private Education Association, a member unit of the China Urban Rail Transit Association, a director unit of the Rail Transit Professional Committee of the China Vocational Education Association (Chairman Professor Zhang Jinsheng is the standing director of the professional committee), a member unit of the National Rail Transit Equipment Industry Industry-Education Integration Community, a vice-chairman unit of the National Intelligent Supply Chain Industry Industry-Education Integration Community, and a vice-chairman unit of the National New Energy Industry Industry-Education Integration Community. In recent years, it has been awarded the honorary titles of "Five-Star Party Organization" in Shaanxi Province, "Shaanxi Province Safe Campus", Shaanxi Province Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Service Demonstration University, "Shaanxi Education System Civilized Campus", and "Best Talent Training Award". The school adheres to the harmonious and unified school-running philosophy of "humanities, science and technology, and innovation", upholds the school motto of "self-improvement and moral cultivation" and the university spirit of "honesty and innovation, bearing the burden and striving for strength, unremitting efforts, and serving the country through transportation", adheres to the "local, industry, and application-oriented" school-running positioning, based in Shaanxi, radiating across the country, taking root in the grassroots, serving the rail transit industry and regional economic and social development. After more than 20 years of construction and development, it has formed a school-running feature based on rail transit disciplines and majors and a multi-type collaborative education talent training model led by the "Zhongxing Model" of school-enterprise cooperation and integration of production and education, and strives to build a distinctive application-oriented undergraduate college. The school implements the "talent-strengthening school" strategy, and has brought together a group of outstanding teachers with high academic qualifications and high professional titles. 90% of the teaching staff have professional and technical positions of lecturers or above or master's and doctoral degrees; 87 teachers have been selected into the high-level talent team; there are currently 3 provincial-level teaching masters and 15 school-level teaching masters. The school currently has 20 undergraduate majors, covering disciplines such as engineering, management, education, and art, forming three major professional groups: rail transit, electronic information, and humanities and management. Six majors, including rail transit signal and control, transportation, vehicle engineering, traffic engineering, communication engineering, and financial management, have been approved as "first-class majors" in Shaanxi Province; the transportation experimental teaching center has been approved as a provincial experimental teaching demonstration center; and the "Train Man Co-creation Space" has been approved as a municipal co-creation space. The school emphasizes the integrated development of disciplines and majors, and strives to optimize the discipline and major structure, integrate the discipline team, condense the discipline direction, build a discipline platform, and cultivate discipline characteristics. It has been approved as the Provincial University Research Institute for Future Industry Innovation of Rail Transit, the Shaanxi Provincial University Engineering Research Center for Green Intelligent Transportation of Industrial and Mining Enterprises, the Shaanxi Provincial University Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Operation and Maintenance of Rail Transit, the Youth Innovation Team for Key Technologies of Urban Rail Transit Roadbed, the Xi'an Train Man Co-creation Space, and the Xi'an Entrepreneurship Incubation Demonstration Base. In 2023, it was approved to become a supporting unit of the National Natural Science Foundation, and the scientific research platform architecture of "one institute, two projects, and one platform" has been basically formed. In recent years, the university has undertaken more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects, including the Youth Project of the Humanities and Social Sciences Fund of the Ministry of Education, the Shaanxi Natural Science Basic Research Program, the Shaanxi Science and Technology Support Program Soft Science Program, the Shaanxi Social Science Fund Project, the Shaanxi Art Planning Project, the Shaanxi Culture and Tourism Project, the Shaanxi Philosophy and Social Sciences Research Project, and the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education Scientific Research Project, as well as 90 departmental and bureau-level projects. A total of more than 1,600 academic papers have been published in domestic and foreign academic journals, including more than 600 core papers, of which more than 250 have been included in SCI, SSCI, EI, and CSSCI; 197 national patents have been obtained. The school aims to "promote higher quality employment" and continuously strengthens school-enterprise and school-local cooperation. It has established stable employment cooperation relationships with CRRC Xi'an Vehicle Co., Ltd., Xi'an Maintenance Office of China Railway Electrified Railway Transportation Management Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Metro, Chengdu Metro, Xi'an Huaxin Railway Signal Co., Ltd., JD Logistics Co., Ltd., Bank of Communications and other companies, and has built 169 employment bases, with an employment rate of more than 90% for many years. It has been rated as a "Shaanxi Province Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Service Demonstration University". The school implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality, adheres to the concept of educating people with culture, and continuously strengthens the construction of campus culture. Under the guidance of the university spirit, it strengthens publicity and education, and forms the "railway spike spirit" with the connotation of "being strong, stable, and reliable" that reflects the characteristics of our students. In combination with the characteristics of rail transit, the school has created a railway cultural education base consisting of a railway cultural education hall, a locomotive vehicle display, and a railway element sculpture group; built a "Red Cultural Corridor" and a "China's Excellent Traditional Culture Corridor"; regularly held a series of activities such as the "Rail Transit Culture and Art Festival", "Science and Technology Innovation Culture and Art Festival", and "Transportation Cultural and Creative Competition", so that students can learn cultural knowledge in a subtle way, accept cultural influence, stimulate the passion of loving the profession and serving the country through transportation, and cultivate innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit. The school implements the concept of international education, adheres to open education, pays attention to foreign exchanges and international education cooperation, and carries out various forms of international exchange activities. It has successively carried out inter-school cooperation in academic exchanges, talent training, teacher training, etc. with Central Queensland University in Australia and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology in Thailand, laying the foundation for broadening international vision and promoting the internationalization of education. Over the past 20 years since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the development strategy of "building a school on quality, strengthening a school with talents, developing a school with characteristics, and shaping a school with culture".
