The College of Science and Technology of China Three Gorges University is an independent college with independent corporate status, which is registered with the Ministry of Education and approved by the Hubei Provincial Department of Education. It is jointly organized by China Three Gorges University and Yichang Education Industry Development Corporation. Its predecessor was the Yichang Branch of China Three Gorges University established in September 2000; in August 2002, it was renamed the College of Science and Technology of China Three Gorges University with the approval of the Provincial Department of Education; in February 2004, it was reconfirmed as an independent college of higher education with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The college passed the undergraduate professional teaching level evaluation of independent colleges in Hubei Province in 2010, and passed the bachelor's degree awarding unit and professional review and evaluation of independent colleges in Hubei Province in 2012, and has the qualification to independently award bachelor's degrees. The college is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, the site of the Three Gorges Project, the world's hydropower capital, and a famous tourist city in China. It is on the same campus with China Three Gorges University and shares the good atmosphere and high-quality educational resources of China Three Gorges University. The college campus covers an area of 825 acres, with 39 undergraduate majors and 11 junior college majors, covering 7 disciplines including engineering, literature, management, economics, law, medicine, and art, and has the qualifications to run ethnic minority preparatory classes and ethnic classes. It has 3 provincial first-class undergraduate majors and 11 provincial first-class courses. As of now, the college has a total of 10,633 students, including 9,476 undergraduates and 1,187 junior college students. The college currently has 583 faculty and staff, including 462 full-time teachers (330 shared university teachers), and 228 external teachers. Among the full-time teachers, the proportion of teachers with a master's degree or above is 71.65%; the proportion of teachers with senior professional titles or above is 33.5%. In the process of development, the Three Gorges University Science and Technology College has taken "respecting morality, advocating ability, cultivating oneself, and being wise" as its school motto. It has always regarded deepening teaching reform and continuously improving teaching quality as an important breakthrough to achieve the transformation and upgrading of the college, and has formed a school-running idea of "focusing on talent training, serving the water conservancy and power industry, serving the local social and economic construction, and using three classrooms as carriers to cultivate applied technical professionals for the front line of production". The college's education quality and teaching level have been greatly improved. In recent years, the college's undergraduate employment rate has remained above 90% on average, and the average rate of passing the postgraduate entrance examination has remained above 8%. College students have won more than 180 provincial and ministerial awards in various subject competitions every year. In the rankings of various universities, it has been awarded the honors of the top 100 independent colleges in the country and the regional high-level independent colleges.
