Guangdong Communications Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as the College) was formerly Guangdong Communications School established in 1959 and Guangdong Shipping School established in 1960. In 1999, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the two schools were merged to form Guangdong Communications Vocational and Technical College. In July 2008, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation was transferred to the management of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. In October 2022, Guangdong Overseas Chinese Vocational and Technical School and Guangdong Science and Technology Vocational and Technical School were merged into the College through the provincial vocational college group. The college insists on being based in Guangdong, serving the regional economic and social development, focusing on cultivating innovative, compound and high-quality technical and skilled talents, and has won 1 first prize and 2 second prizes in the National Teaching Achievement Award; in 2004, it passed the evaluation of the talent training level of higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education with an "excellent" grade; in 2013, it passed the acceptance of the first batch of national backbone higher vocational college construction projects with an "excellent" grade; in 2016, it was selected as a construction unit of the Guangdong Province First-Class Higher Vocational College Construction Plan; from 2016 to 2019, it won the "Top 50 National Higher Vocational Colleges Service Contribution" for four consecutive years; in 2018, it won the "Top 50 National Higher Vocational Colleges Teaching Resources Colleges"; in 2019, it was awarded the National High-quality Junior College Higher Vocational College; In 2020, it was selected as one of the first batch of "dual-qualified" teacher team construction models of the Ministry of Education; in 2021, it was selected as one of the top 100 excellent colleges in the national higher vocational college teacher development index; in 2022, it was selected as a project construction unit of the "Guangdong Provincial High-level Vocational College Construction Plan", a national model party building branch cultivation unit, the first batch of national "Vocational Colleges Serving Comprehensive Lifelong Learning Project" experimental schools, and a national summer "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice outstanding unit. The Ministry of Education's "One-Stop" Student Community Comprehensive Management Model Construction Independent Pilot Unit has successively won the honorary titles of National Advanced Vocational Education Unit, National Transportation System Advanced Collective, Guangdong Provincial Civilized Demonstration Unit, Guangdong Transportation Education and Science and Technology Advanced Unit, and High-quality Provincial Vocational Teacher Training Base. The college currently has four campuses, covering an area of more than 1,300 acres, with more than 28,000 full-time students and 56 majors, covering civil engineering, automobile manufacturing, ship driving, rail transit, intelligent transportation, transportation management, electromechanical equipment, electronic information, commerce and trade, etc., forming a professional overall layout of "three roads leading by highway, waterway and rail, and multi-faceted development of electromechanical information, economic management, humanities design, etc." In terms of professional construction, the college has won 23 national key majors, 3 provincial high-level vocational college professional groups, and 7 Guangdong Province high-level professional groups; in terms of teaching resource construction, it has built 7 national courses (1 boutique online open course, 2 boutique courses, 1 boutique resource sharing course, and 3 online boutique courses), 1 national course ideological and political demonstration course, and 53 provincial courses; hosted 3 national professional teaching resource libraries and 9 provincial ones; and built 11 national 12th and 13th Five-Year Plan textbooks. The college has 260 integrated multifunctional on-campus training teaching sites with advanced equipment, 56 on-campus training bases and training bases jointly built by the government, schools and enterprises, and 582 close-knit off-campus internship bases, including 1 vocational education base supported by the central government, 4 bases (or public training centers) for the Action Plan for Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education (2015-2018), 2 provincial public training centers, 16 provincial higher vocational education training bases, 3 provincial virtual simulation training centers, and 31 provincial college students’ off-campus practice bases. In terms of industry-education integration, there are 7 industrial colleges, including 3 provincial higher vocational education demonstration industrial colleges, 1 modern transportation comprehensive training base, an industry-education integration base project of the National Development and Reform Commission, and a total of 6 industry-education integration training centers with equipment value of more than 50 million yuan. In collaboration with York Guangzhou Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Equipment Co., Ltd., 9 Guangdong Province industry-education integration enterprises have been successfully established, and 66 industry-education integration enterprises have been jointly built. In terms of the teaching staff, senior professional titles account for more than 40.5%, dual-teacher teachers account for 85.5% of professional teachers, and there is 1 national teacher teaching innovation team, 1 national curriculum ideological and political demonstration project teaching team, 8 national curriculum ideological and political teaching masters, and 9 provincial excellent teaching teams. There are 2 Guangdong Province Special Support Plan Teaching Masters, 5 Guangdong Province Teaching Masters, 3 South Guangdong Excellent Teachers, 2 National Transportation Vocational Education Teaching Masters, 2 National Logistics Industry Education and Teaching Masters, 6 Guangdong Province Higher Vocational Education Professional Leading Talents, 3 provincial and ministerial skill master studios, and 1 Guangdong Province Vocational Education "dual-teacher" famous teacher studio. In terms of scientific and technological services, the university has been successfully approved as a "National Natural Science Foundation Supporting Unit", approved to establish a Guangdong Provincial Doctoral Work Station, and has established 4 Collaborative Innovation Centers for the Ministry of Education's Higher Vocational Education Innovation and Development Action Plan, 3 Engineering Technology Research Centers of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and 13 Guangdong Provincial University Science and Technology Innovation Platforms (Teams), and has won 14 provincial and above science and technology progress awards; 640 intellectual property rights have been authorized since 2018, including 55 invention patents and 17 patent results transformation; 5 professional standards and industry specifications have been edited, and 161 papers have been published in SCI/EI and other core journals. In terms of competitions, in the past five years, teachers have won 8 first prizes, 31 second prizes, and 57 third prizes in national and provincial competitions; students have won 3 awards in international skills competitions, 10 awards in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, 1 award in the "Internet +", 1 award in the "Challenge Cup" China University Student Entrepreneurship Program, and 218 provincial awards. The high-quality educational resources, excellent teaching quality and profound industry background have attracted a large number of candidates, and it has become the first choice for many candidates to apply for higher vocational colleges. The employment prospects of graduates are broad and the employment channels are smooth. In the past three years, the employment rate of graduates has been over 98%, and it has been selected as the "2022 National Higher Vocational College Employment Competitiveness Case". The college has played a "combination punch" for the high-quality development of academic education and vocational training, formed a training brand with a series of training with the characteristics of the transportation industry as the main line, and a series of training in management, electromechanical information developed simultaneously, and established and improved a vocational education system for vocational colleges to serve lifelong learning for all people, and played the role of Canton Fair in serving lifelong learning, community education, rural revitalization, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In the past three years, it has hosted about 35 national vocational (practicing) qualification examinations, carried out 63 vocational training projects, and provided an annual social service of 48,000 people. It has established 6 community education demonstration bases for the Guangdong Province Continuing Education Quality Improvement Project, 2 demonstration employee training bases, 3 high-quality continuing education online courses, and 2 lifelong education brand projects.
