Qingdao Binhai University was founded in 1992 and became one of the first two private undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province in 2005. It has the right to confer bachelor's degrees in 2009, was identified as a Shandong Province master's degree project cultivation and construction unit in 2017, and was identified as a Shandong Province master's degree project construction unit in 2024. Since 2019, it has jointly trained master's students with Qingdao University and Shandong University of Science and Technology. In 2013, it was selected as a pilot institution for strategic research and reform of applied technology universities by the Ministry of Education. In 2014, it became a private undergraduate higher education characteristic famous university in Shandong Province. In 2021, it was rated as an experimental university for reciting and creating Chinese ancient poems and essays by the Ministry of Education, and in 2021, it was rated as a support unit for the construction of applied undergraduate colleges in Shandong Province. The school is located in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao, covering an area of 1,250 acres. The school has 1,271 full-time teachers, of which 86.78% have master's and doctoral degrees, 36.27% have senior professional titles, and there are 8 foreign teachers. There are 5 Shandong Province Advantage Discipline Talent Teams, 5 Shandong Province Youth Entrepreneurship Talent Teams, and 1 Shandong Province Philosophy and Social Science Youth Talent Team; 10 provincial and above famous teachers and excellent teachers, and 12 municipal famous teachers.
