Inner Mongolia Chemical Vocational College is located at the foot of the beautiful Daqing Mountain in Hohhot. It is a state-run full-time higher vocational college directly under the Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with distinctive characteristics and technical advantages in the chemical and building materials industries. Its predecessor was the Inner Mongolia Petrochemical School founded in 1978 and the Inner Mongolia Building Materials Industry School founded in 1979. In 2003, the two schools merged and upgraded to a higher vocational college. The college adheres to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implements the Party’s education policy in the new era, firmly adheres to the socialist direction of running schools, implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, and is rooted in the chemical and materials industries. Professional, based in the local area and facing the whole country, it has built a multi-level and multi-form school-running pattern with full-time higher vocational education as the main focus, retaining secondary vocational education, improving and upgrading vocational undergraduate education, and increasing continuing education and social training. The college has always been adhering to the school motto of "Houde, Erudition, and Self-improvement", closely focusing on the goal of building a first-class quality and distinctive higher vocational college, vigorously promoting the integration of vocational and general education, industry-education integration, and science-education integration, and maintaining a good development trend in various fields such as talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural heritage, and international exchanges and cooperation. It is a national backbone higher vocational college, a national "double high" plan construction unit, a pilot unit for internal quality diagnosis and improvement of the Ministry of Education, a pilot college of the Ministry of Education's modern apprenticeship system, an autonomous region's high-quality higher vocational college, and an autonomous region's "double high" school construction unit. It has successively won the titles of National Advanced Unit of Vocational Education, National Advanced Unit of Employment Guidance of Vocational Colleges, National National Defense Education Characteristic School, National Most Popular Vocational College, National Vocational College Digital Campus Construction Pilot School, Demonstration School of Rule of Law in the Region, Autonomous Region Civilized Campus, Autonomous Region Civilized Unit Model, Autonomous Region May 1st Labor Award, Autonomous Region Employment and Training Advanced College, Advanced Collective of Subsidy Work in the Region, Advanced Collective of Mental Health Education in the Region, Advanced Collective of Recruitment Work in Colleges and Universities in the Region, and Advanced Unit of Student Work in the Region. The college covers an area of 769 mu and has a building area of 262,000 square meters. There are 560 faculty members, including 444 full-time teachers on campus; 35 full-time teachers have senior professional titles, 146 have associate senior professional titles, 255 full-time teachers have master's degrees, 14 have doctors, and 286 "double-qualified" teachers. There is one national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" teaching master, one national-level course ideological and political teaching team, seven national-level course ideological and political teaching masters, one national "May 1st" Labor Medal winner, three experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, three autonomous region outstanding experts, two autonomous region grassland talents, one autonomous region-level model worker, three autonomous region "May 1st" Labor Medal winners, 12 autonomous region-level teaching masters, six autonomous region-level outstanding teachers, 12 autonomous region-level newcomers, one autonomous region's most beautiful teacher, two autonomous region outstanding moral education workers, one autonomous region outstanding counselor, one autonomous region outstanding ideological and political theory teacher, and one autonomous region "May 1st" female model. There are three national petroleum and chemical industry teaching masters. In 2014, the project "Developing a large-scale modern coal chemical teaching factory and innovating the practical teaching model for the cultivation of high-skilled talents" won the first prize of national teaching achievements; there are 13 autonomous region-level professional teaching teams. The college currently has 11,543 students in higher vocational colleges (including enterprise expansion enrollment). After long-term construction and development, it has trained more than 100,000 technical and skilled talents, making positive contributions to the economic and social development of the autonomous region. It has opened 13 categories of enrollment, totaling 45 majors, and has built three characteristic professional groups, namely "chemical specialty group with coal chemical technology as the leading major", "mechanical and electrical specialty group with chemical equipment technology as the leading major", and "modern information technology specialty group with big data technology as the leading major". 7 national key majors have been established, including 4 key construction majors of national backbone higher vocational colleges, 1 national general major, 3 autonomous region specialty majors, 4 autonomous region-level key construction majors, 12 autonomous region-level brand majors, 5 pilot majors of the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, 30 pilot majors of the "1+X" certificate system, and 19 "1+X" certificates; there is 1 high-level professional group of the national "Double High Plan" and 2 high-level professional groups of the autonomous region's "Double High Plan"; 37 quality improvement and excellence action plan tasks have been undertaken. The college has a vocational skill appraisal station for unique types of work in the chemical industry, a national vocational skill appraisal station for the building materials industry, and a skill level certification station for the Inner Mongolia Chemical Vocational College, which can carry out skill training and national vocational qualification appraisal for 53 types of work.
