Shandong Communications Vocational College was founded in 1973 and was approved by the provincial government to be upgraded to a higher vocational college in July 2002. In December 2013, the former Shandong Provincial Transportation School was merged as a whole. The school implements the dual leadership of the Shandong Provincial Department of Transportation and the Department of Education, and the management system is mainly based on the Shandong Provincial Department of Transportation. In recent years, the school has adhered to the school-running positioning of "based on the transportation industry, serving the regional economy, closely integrating with enterprises, and cultivating technical and skilled talents" and the school-running model of "school-enterprise integration and full-process cooperation", continuously strengthening the connotation construction, improving the quality of talent training, and continuously improving the school-running level. The school is located in Weifang City and Tai'an City, covering an area of more than 1,300 acres, with an elegant environment, convenient transportation, complete teaching facilities and excellent teaching conditions. Fixed assets are 1.021 billion yuan, teaching and scientific research equipment assets are worth 235 million yuan, and there are 1.18 million books. The school implements two-level management at the college and department level. It has teaching institutions such as the Department of Vehicle Engineering, the Department of Highway and Architecture, the Department of Management and Information, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Navigation, the Department of Transportation Engineering, the Department of Basic Applications, and the Department of Science and Humanities. It has built 5 provincial-level skill inheritance and innovation platforms. There are currently scientific research and technical service institutions such as the Traffic Accident Judicial Appraisal Institute, Highway Engineering Testing Center, Logistics Research Institute, Transportation Engineering Experimental Center, Transportation Industry and Municipal Key Laboratories. It has won 2 national teaching achievement awards and 21 provincial teaching achievement awards. Shandong Transportation Vocational Education Group has been recognized as the second batch of national demonstration vocational education group cultivation units by the Ministry of Education. The school has hosted the "Automobile Marketing", "Automobile Inspection and Maintenance", "Freight Forwarding" and other events in the National Vocational College Skills Competition for six consecutive years. Students won 28 first prizes, 25 second prizes, and 11 third prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition; and won 136 awards of various types in the Shandong Vocational College Skills Competition. In 2021, the number of first prizes in the national competition ranked first among higher vocational colleges in the country.
