Shandong Communications Vocational College was founded in 1973 and was approved by the provincial government to be upgraded to a higher vocational college in July 2002. In December 2013, the former Shandong Provincial Transportation School was merged as a whole. The school implements the dual leadership of the Shandong Provincial Department of Transportation and the Department of Education, and the management system is mainly based on the Shandong Provincial Department of Transportation. Shandong Transportation Vocational Education Group has been recognized as the second batch of national demonstration vocational education group cultivation units by the Ministry of Education. The school has hosted the "Automobile Marketing", "Automobile Inspection and Maintenance", "Freight Forwarding" and other events in the National Vocational College Skills Competition for six consecutive years. Students won 28 first prizes, 25 second prizes, and 11 third prizes in the National Vocational College Skills Competition; and won 136 awards of various types in the Shandong Vocational College Skills Competition. In 2021, the number of first prizes in the national competition ranked first among higher vocational colleges in the country.
